positioning driver's seat

I like my new e350. But one thing puzzles me. when my wife drives it, the driver's seat is far forward--too far forward for me to even get in the car. I am driver 1 in the seat memory but standing outside the car and pressing the 1 button does nothing. If I squeeze into the car, it will eventually recognize me and move the sear. Is there a way to position the driver's seat before I get in and to avoid being scrunched up?

Just use the manual control button that is next to the memory buttons.

In my 2017 E300 you could stand outside and
hold down the 1 or 2 button. Not great to stand there waiting for the seat to move in bad weather but better than the new E where the 1 and 2 buttons don't work if you're not in the car . In my Infiniti M, the car recognized your key fob and adjusted the seat and wheel when you approached so it was ready to go.

It appears that the seat memories are user specific which means a for each user, the memory 1 position can be different. I'm personally not a fan of that concept due to this exact problem. I've not confirmed myself that the memory seats are user specific, but if so, when standing outside the user would be guest. You could theoretically set the memory 1 for guest and then maybe it will move to the desired location when standing outside and you press the button.

Is there a way to have the driver profile recognized automatically prior to entering the vehicle so the seat adjusts automatically? Is there a Routine for that? Perhaps mess with the easy entry setting as well?

I don't know. I haven't played with it much. The routines are user specific so i doubt that will work.

If only we can automatically detect the driver when we open the door. Hmmm, how long does it take for the fingerprint sensor to start reading a person's finger, perhaps OP can just tap the fingerprint sensor? What about the facial recognition?

I'm not sure that will help. The goal of the OP is to adjust the seat before they get in. I'm not even sure my assumptions above are correct. I or someone would have to experiment with it a bit.

If only there is an option in the app, oh well.

This seems like a workable solution to a problem that I wouldn't expect to exist. My other thought would be to throw the key onto the driver seat and then push the memory 1 button. It seems like a bad design if the memory button doesn't work when you are trying to get into the car.

I don't have a W214 to test, but the memory buttons work from outside on my W213. IMO somehow there is an issue with profiles.

The "easy exit" function?? Doesn't that move the wheel AND the seat? I don't have the seat move but the steering wheel does move up when I exit the vehicle and doesn't go back down until I enter the car and start the engine. You may have to hit the memory button to get the seat/wheel to your positions but that should solve the seat position....if in fact "easy exit" moves the seat.

Easy exit moves the seat unless your seat position is already set to where MB has determined the easy exit position should be. Move your seat backwards as a test. Easy exit should move it a bit forward for you.

The point I was trying to make was for TiburonSteve. If he sets-up the car so that the wheel and seat moves back when his wife exits the vehicle, then he shouldn't have an issue when he tries to get into the car. Assuming he and the Mrs. have their own key fobs, won't the seat return to his desired position as soon as he starts the car with his fob?
