I see that's good, you left the vehicle overnight right?

I will next time! I naively decided to wait not knowing it’d be an 8 hour process. Took another 4+ hours after I left for all the features to fully activate and start working.

Been there done that, although in my case it was a rear diff replacement. I waited at the dealership like waiting for my transfer flight, different MB though.

3. "Click" noise when using touchpad on the steering wheel changed to be more subtle
4. Digital light animations and projections finally supported for 2024 model year vehicles
5. Parking sensor noise has been changed
6. New "greeting tone" added
7. Apple music removed - (coming back later in 2025)
8. Spotify, Amazon Music, and Tidal now seem to run on the android automotive version of the app
9. Internet radio has now been moved into a separate app called Audials
10. Car wash mode added
11. Distronic now seems to be able to recognize lane markings on light colored roads better
12. Sound drive added
13. Now able to link smart key to automatically load your profile
14. "Apps" folder has been renamed to "MB Apps"
15. When you have an active navigation route in carplay, the "navigation" cluster theme will not display the original Mercedes maps anymore
16. Entry lighting randomly deactivating seems to have been fixed
Great list, thank you for this. It was helpful when I got the update to go and find the things that changed easier. I'll add my own observations from this list of changes and include some additional things I've noticed that changed.

1. Google maps logo added to the bottom right of the navigation screen
I'm not seeing the Google Maps logo on my navigation screen.

2. Separate heated steering wheel button added in climate menu
Confirmed, I have a new steering wheel heat button in the climate control menu.

3. "Click" noise when using touchpad on the steering wheel changed to be more subtle
I have not noticed the click noise changing, but I did have mine on low. Maybe yours was on high and the update defaulted it to low.

4. Digital light animations and projections finally supported for 2024 model year vehicles
I already had them on my 2024, so perhaps this will only be noticed by those that didn't have it enabled before.

5. Parking sensor noise has been changed
I haven't noticed this, but will listen for it the next time I pull out of my garage.

6. New "greeting tone" added
Yes, I like it much better.

7. Apple music removed - (coming back later in 2025)
Confirmed, I don't see it any longer. I didn't use it anyway other than to try it out for a little while. I prefer to play my own music than stream.

8. Spotify, Amazon Music, and Tidal now seem to run on the android automotive version of the app
Not something I use, so I cannot confirm.

9. Internet radio has now been moved into a separate app called Audials
Confirmed, but don't use it much.

10. Car wash mode added
Confirmed, and it's added as an action in routines as well. Someone could use a GPS location as a trigger and then have it automatically start Car Wash mode. Too bad it's only for running through automatic car washes and not something you can use if you hand wash the car. I never use an automated car wash and prefer to hand wash my car. Still nice feature to have.

11. Distronic now seems to be able to recognize lane markings on light colored roads better
I have not noticed this yet. I thought I recall seeing a setting for this prior to this update but I'm not 100% sure.

12. Sound drive added
Confirmed, I tried it and it's pretty useless. I'll try a few more songs but this is likely something I would never use and I would guess the majority of E-Class owners would not either.

13. Now able to link smart key to automatically load your profile
I was able to link my fob to my profile. Much better IMO than relying on facial recognition or having to select your profile. I wonder though if you have profile security turned on and someone who is not you gets in with your key how it will respond. I'll need to do some experimentation with this in the coming weeks.

14. "Apps" folder has been renamed to "MB Apps"
Yup, it has.

15. When you have an active navigation route in carplay, the "navigation" cluster theme will not display the original Mercedes maps anymore
Yes, this is kind of stupid actually. For those that are unsure what this means. The driver display has a navigation display option that normally shows the onboard navigation map. If you have AA or ACP running route guidance, that screen will now show your next turn information as the popup text box but no map or other details.

16. Entry lighting randomly deactivating seems to have been fixed
I haven't had this issue but I did have an issue with the projection spot light function randomly deactivating so I'll see if this is still happening.

I'll add some additional items below this

17. There are a number of new actions available in the routines. These include (and may not be limited to)
  • Set internal temperature
  • Set the fan speed
  • Turn on/off fragrance if you have the air freshener option
  • Turn on Car Wash Mode
  • Change drive modes (Eco, Comfort, Sport, etc)
  • Turn on steering wheel heat
  • Take a selfie with the inside camera if equipped
  • Take a picture or series of pictures on the external (forward facing) camera
18. Passenger Screen Decorative Image (if Superscreen equipped) can be set to a "Personal Decorative Image". Only issue I see is that you have to set pick the image on the MB phone app first and that option does not exist there. Either this was a mistake to add this or they still have to update the phone app to fully support this.

I may find more and will add them to this thread if I do.

One negative is that the AA screen size seems to have gotten smaller. I remember it larger but now it's at least 1/2 inch smaller on the right and left. I've created another thread on this here.

Excellent report. Thanks for sharing. I have a Service A coming in October so we will see if I get the update then.

Did your dealer need to request MBUSA approval to install the update like the other member mentioned?

No, when they hooked it up to their computer that was the update it said was needed.

Another change

18. The 360 camera interface has changed. It used to have icons at the bottom to change camera angle. Now there are cameras icons around the car. I don't recall ever seeing those before this update, but I don't have a picture of the previous interface that I can find to compare.

Im wondering if there's a newer version that you received? My camera menu still has all the buttons along the bottom, and I don't have any of the new routine features you mentioned.

I don't think so since my version is the same as what you reported in this thread. Could be that there is other software that is updated that doesn't reflect in the software version we see in the system information. Some things may be feature specific based on the options in the car. I have every option there is for my model year, but I don't see how that would impact the routines unless you don't have the option such as the air freshener. Every car has a climate control system though and should be able to adjust it from a routine. Same with the ride modes.

Some of the screen shots showing the new features.

I have 333.8-58 installed and received an email from MB that Sound Drive is available but I’ve never been able to figure out where to find it or turn it on. I doubt I’d use it anyway but would still like to demo it just out of curiosity. It said go to MBUX Infotainment on the app and turn it on but it doesn’t show up there.

I had to go into the Mercedes Me app and enable the digital extra. It's not enabled by default. Then it takes several hours (up to 24) to activate in the car. I tried it, and think it's pretty useless. Don't think I'll ever use it again other than to show someone what it is.

Another new feature I noticed is there is the ability to link game controllers to the car. I think this is in preparation to releasing several games for the car. Such as this.

Go to your digital extras and verify you see it under MBUX Infotainment. If you see it, it should eventually show up under the media app.

Do you have the Burmester sound system? I believe that is a requirement as well.

I got the email from MB on 07/31/25 saying I have it and have had 333.8-58 since mid June so I think it should have shown up by now, but as said earlier - no big deal.

Yeah, you're not missing much, but strange that it's not showing up.

This is the German thread on this same topic over there. Lots of interesting stuff in that thread and lots of similarities to this thread.

Yesterday I was able to upload a “Personal Decorative Image” to my car’s Passenger Screen. In the Mercedes app on your phone, select Vehicle Display and load the image of your choice there. It will then (eventually) sync with the car and then you can select the image in the Display Settings in the car. It took a few hours for the car to sync. Not earth-shattering, but kind of fun.

What phone and app version do you have? I have an Android with MB app version 3.61.0 and do not see this option in the app. The car has it, but the app is missing it still. I assume it will be available in a future app update. The version I'm on (3.61.0) was released on October 16.

I have an iPhone running iOS 26. The License Agreement for the Mercedes app says it is Version 3.61.0 "from Wed Oct 1 2025". So that is weird that you have the same version and don't have it yet.
