Hi everyone, my car recently received the newest MBUX update and I wanted to document the changes I have noticed so far.
1. Google maps logo added to the bottom right of the navigation screen
2. Separate heated steering wheel button added in climate menu
3. "Click" noise when using touchpad on the steering wheel changed to be more subtle
4. Digital light animations and projections finally supported for 2024 model year vehicles
5. Parking sensor noise has been changed
6. New "greeting tone" added
7. Apple music removed - (coming back later in 2025)
8. Spotify, Amazon Music, and Tidal now seem to run on the android automotive version of the app
9. Internet radio has now been moved into a separate app called Audials
10. Car wash mode added
11. Distronic now seems to be able to recognize lane markings on light colored roads better
12. Sound drive added
13. Now able to link smart key to automatically load your profile
14. "Apps" folder has been renamed to "MB Apps"
15. When you have an active navigation route in carplay, the "navigation" cluster theme will not display the original Mercedes maps anymore
16. Entry lighting randomly deactivating seems to have been fixed
By the way. I don't recall ever seeing this post before today. I only found it because the OP posted in the thread about linking the key fob to a profile and I looked at his other posts to find this one. It's not the first time a post slipped by without being seen. By the lack of replies, it seems others missed it too. This is really good news to hear of an update that actually has new features and fixes you can see.

Agreed, except for the Apple Music disappearing, which is noted on threads for other MB models. Supposedly coming back is worrisome. We will see how it plays out.

Me neither, it never showed up in the New Posts section and the Today's Post section, strange, maybe it was being moderated or something which again is strange, if it really was being moderated that might explain it was not in the Today's Post section. However, it should still be in the New Posts section.

Great changes, I especially like to hear car wash mode is back since lots of people miss it. I personally hand wash my car but I admit I eant to have that car wash mode in the winter in case I'm lazy.
Ok mystery solved, OP's post was indeed moderated, that explains why it never showed up in the New Post and Today's Post section. I quoted OP's post and I got the message that it will be reviewed by a moderator, not sure what words were moderate worthy though.

I am kind of curious why that was removed. Was it glitching or was there a licensing issue? Does it not share the same licensing as apple carplay?
How did you get this update? Did the dealership do it or was it OTA?
I had contacted Mercedes support previously about this update since it included the digital light functionality for 2024 model year cars. They told me that it "is unavailable as an OTA at this time" and that it is only available through the dealership. When I talked to the dealership they originally had no clue about the update until I had to push back and tell them to reach out to Mercedes.
Also, I don't know for sure, but this is just my prediction as to why apple music was removed. I think it may be because they are switching all the music apps over to the android automotive versions of the apps, as spotify, tidal, and amazon music now run on the android automotive version of the app and also now look different. There currently is no android automotive version of apple music, so I believe that may be the reason. However, since the update spotify and tidal are much quicker than before.

Interesting - how long did it take for the dealership to update the car? Was it part of another service you were having or did you bring it just for this update?
Great to know. Thanks for the update. My MBUX 3.2.1 was not even successfully installed so maybe I will just go to the dealer and install this latest one that includes the digital light function.

I agree it is a little bit worrisome. I think it might be because they are switching over the versions of all the music apps as spotify, tidal, and amazon music now run on the android automotive version of the app with a different interface. There is no android automotive version of apple music, so that is probably why its gone for now.

I have had this version of MBUX for a few weeks now. Using the MBUX navigation there is no Google label anywhere on the map. Are you using Carplay and google maps when you see that?

At the dealership this morning and they say they have no ability to choose what software version to update to. They walked me back to the garage where they had the car hooked up to the computer, clicked through the menus to update the software, and it ways software up to date - no update available. They are going to update the head unit to see if that unlocks access to the digital light projections. Fingers crossed!

Mercedes corporate can escalate you to “tier two” who can unlock E333.8 but it takes 7-10 days.
They can update the head unit at the dealership. In their words “there’s always an update for the head unit”. Ultimately by updating the head unit I now have E333.8 without having to wait for MB tier two, despite the dealer’s system saying my software had no update available.
The digital projections didn’t start working properly for another 4-5 hours after I left the dealership, but everything is operating perfectly now.

I asked MBUSA about this not long after taking delivery. It's only available in the E53 in the US. Apparently it's in the E450 in European models. Same with digital vents.

I did, but MB customer care said it would take 7-10 days. 8 hours later after the dealership successfully “updated the head unit” E333.8 was the version displayed on the center display, so the escalation doesn’t seem to have been needed (at least in my case).
