Auto Climate Control

Hello,

Can anybody explain how Auto Climate Control in the E Class works?

On my other vehicles, I just set the my preferred temperature and the fan speed/blower adjusts based on temperature. If I fiddle with the fan speed, the auto climate control disengages.

In the E-Class, I still have control of the fan speed and the Auto does not disengage.

Thank you!

The car adjusts the temperature of the delivered air accordingly to maintain the set temperature.

Manually adjust fan speed high = warmer air delivery (continuously adjusted)

I agree. The auto climate does not work like other cars. First summer with car and it’s pretty annoying that auto mode which is supposed to be set it and forget forces a lot of intervention. God forbid you get in the car on a hundred degree day and have to use the phone. The air speed reduces to very very low I guess to avoid wind noise on the call while you create a pool of sweat. Very poor design

I don't have any issues with mine on auto 3 all the time. It cools down fast on hot days and warms up fast on cold days. I typically leave the set temp to 70°F in hot or cold, but will fluctuate between 68° and 72° depending on my needs. The fan will fluctuate up or down as it should on auto. The climate control system is one of the better features of this car IMO.

additionally, i had passengers in the rear recently on a hot day and they were melting in the back seat. I had to manually put air temp low and fan speed high and face blowers only for them to get relief while me and my front passenger froze

Does the car have vents for the rear passengers? Do the vents function?
As far as freezing the front occupants, turn town the airflow to the front vents...?

I do have vents in the rear but they certainly don’t blow like the front. I had to run the fan on high due to the rear passengers being hot and rear vents not cooling sufficiently.

Interesting... Don't know about your particular model, but many manufacturers have additional fans inline with the rear ducting to help push the air all the way to the rear. Perhaps you have a blockage, or the inline fans (if any) aren't working?
Or, perhaps your model just has a crummy HVAC design...

.
My W213 has vents under the front seats that blow conditioned air towards the back in addition to 2 large vents in the rear of the console. I have not had any passenger complaints about the back seat being too warm. I keep the A/C set at 72° F. The heat is never used.
