heads up display

My E350 has a heads up display. So did my
previous car--a 2017 E300. The E300 showed navigation instructions in the heads up but I cant get the E 350 to show nav. information. The heads up has 3 settings but none include nav information. Does anyone know about this?

Mine shows nav info in the HUD. It's quite large as well and uses most of the HUD area. I assume you are trying this when you actually have the navigation set to some destination? What options did you get? Maybe it's just basic HUD unless you have specific options.

You using phone or native navigation?

The HUD shows navigation info for both the onboard navigation and from Android Auto (assume CarPlay too). It's much nicer looking when using onboard navigation though. I haven't looked at AA navigation through the HUD in awhile so it might have improved from the last time I saw it, but I prefer the onboard navigation over AA with Waze or Google Maps.

My HUD is nearly invisible, since I wear sunglasses almost always. Other than during night drives and early morning drives. It works well enough, and the NAV display via the HUD is a nice-to-have.

I recently installed ceramic window tint on my windshield and surprisingly I can see the heads up display clearly even wearing sunglasses.

Seeing the HUD clearly really depends on the type of lenses in the the glasses / sunglasses worn.
Regular lenses should see the HUD content just fine.
Polarized lenses are going to make the HUD more difficult to see because of the nature of the lens. Then, we get into the quality of the polarized lenses. Higher quality lenses will make it less difficult to see the HUD content than do lesser quality lenses.

Bingo ! Yes, those are Oakley polarized glasses. I have a non-polarized option, and I might have to try them, when driving.

I have 3M Crystalline film on all glass surfaces of the car (windshields, pano roofs and of course the windows etc) and yes, if I were not wearing polarized sunglasses, the HUD is super sharp and clear.

On my 2023 E450, I have to go to the HUD settings, navigate to the left most area of the three areas and choose navigation. I am not at the car now but recall under settings there are four or five choices which seem to set up which options will be available in the submenus.

Various Head Up Display options, as seen in my E450 AT. Looks better live compared to photos, but you get the idea. The squared edges that show in the photos I don't think are seen live.
