When I try to have a destination on a CarPlay navigation app such as Google Maps or Waze then the MBUX stops the navigation and vice versa, anybody knows why is this happening although I can have more than one app working at the same time in CarPlay, is there any way to avoid this?
It's working as designed. You cannot have two navigation apps in active route navigation mode at the same time. I think part of it may be a technical issue. For example, the HUD will show navigation from CarPlay or AA. With MBUX running a route, which one does it show. Another is voice guidance where having two systems telling you to turn can be an issue. It's not just MB, my motorcycle has on board GPS and CarPlay/AA and does the same thing. It's annoying, but workable.
You can have two nav apps running, but only one can have route guidance active at any given time. I prefer the MBUX navigation over Waze or Google Maps on AA so I normally run that when I need route guidance. I like to know about LEOs too and will have Waze running on AA with voice alerts on, but without any route guidance. This way I get audio alerts about LEOs, stopped cars, etc. Sometimes I want to see the Waze map while also seeing the MBUX map and will change the driver display to show navigation and the center display will show Waze on AA. Works quite well. I typically do this while on a road trip and going through a metro area.
In an earlier version of MBUX for the W214, just pulling up a CarPlay/AA navigation app would cancel any active route guidance on MBUX. That was really annoying. It was a bug, because if you try a second time, it would work. That was fixed in a later release over a year ago.
