Was anyone with an ordered E53 able to use the EV lease credit after 9/30?
The $7,500 credit that expired 9/30 was extended for cars in transit. The spirit of the extension would seem to apply to those who made commitments long ago to take advantage of the incentive, whether buying or leasing. However, wording on the IRS website seems to imply only for cars/buyers eligible for purchase, with language stipulating ‘enforceable contract’ and ‘down payment’, neither of which are really possible ahead of delivery with a lease.

I have a good friend with a custom-ordered, fully optioned 2026 S 580e 4MATIC that is currently sitting at the port. The ship arrived later than scheduled, but before 9/30. MBFS said tough luck on the $7,500. 9/30 was the deadline. And the lease programs for October are worse than September. Truly a bummer for many buyers.

Thanks for the info. The tough luck is for Mercedes...assuming there will be nothing different with my situation, this would be the third 100k+ car I have attempted to buy/lease from them in the last four years that they have completely dropped the ball on. Three strikes, they're out...plenty of RS6s available, or I'll just keep what I have.
