E/W214: Stat/Stop or Not ?
in start-stop mode while driving, ( Economy mode ) when I do not press the gas pedal, I notice that the rpm meter drops to 0, which means that the engine probably stops working temporarily.
When I press the gas pedal again, the engine starts again and the rpm meter rises to the level it was before. This process supposedly saves fuel, but doesn't it overload the system and create accelerated wear? Alternatively, will it be better to disable the start-stop and prevent engine wear at the expense of increased fuel consumption.

The only danger is that the engine will stop when one is paused in the middle of an intersection awaiting a left turn and not instantly restart. It happened to me in my '18 E300. Cross traffic left me stranded in the middle of the intersection waiting for a green light. That may not be an issue with a W214 with electric boost. Above is a common intersection with 12 lane roads (6 lanes each direction) intersecting.

BenzNinja has recoded all my MBs to last setting and the function has been off ever since.
