E/W214: Passenger seat belt retractor issue

Passenger seat belt retractor issue
Passenger seat belt after buckling holds passenger so tight that they are unable to lean forward at all; can't pick anything up from floor because of seat belt. Is this normal? Is the passenger side different from driver's side? Thanks for any help.

Nope, not normal and the passenger side doesn't work any different than the driver side. I do know if you keep tension on it when locked it will not unlock. Also, if you try to move forward immediately after putting it on it will lock. Does this happen with all passengers or just a specific one? They also auto tension just after putting them on and if you try to push forward at that time, they may lock. I always put my seatbelt on and wait for the tensioner to finish before trying to lean forward. Sometimes when I'm in a rush, it will lock on me but it releases the moment I sit back for a second or two.
