I have read that thread it is rather comical at points.

So between Heir, and I, you have well over 150k miles covered and no issues with the single unit Kleeman pulley. And yes, its a beauty.

Kleeman was also the only company to address the pulley on the alternator.

Kleeman, pulled that item, but by no means is out of the N. American market.

Yeah I am awaiting Heirkranz response to sell his other Pulley (kleeman)- I also have a line on the Pioneer avic-z1-- nothing to do with the pulley thread, but dang it makesme happy.

Its the resonance, not the vibration. I understand the purpose...and I know why there's reason to be concerned. I'm also not advocating the Kleeman, I did buy the ASP unit after all. Without wanting to rehash this, lets just say I have my opinion- on this motor, not all motors, and I also have said repeatedly that changing the snout pulley on the supercharger would have ultimately been the smarter idea. Yes, I know, that requires replacing the snout casting.

In theory, the ASP design is better for your engine than the Kleeman. There can be no argument about that.

Agreed.

Yes, and I expected when I put the pulley on that there would be accelerated wear on certain things- the alternator and the supercharger mainly. I'm please to say neither have had any issues.

Yes, no issues with either here with those items.
I did replace a tensioner once....that resolved some issues with belt vibration...
Rubensans posted a video of it...here? Or was in on MBkrasse?

Wow this thread is loaded with information! great inputs and nice arguments. However, I'm in favor of ASP.
I've been reading threads alot the last two weeks about that, and this one seems to be a quick summary easier to understand, and still in favor of ASP.
Now, I think Belt issue was mentioned (brands to avoid)... I wonder what brand did you guys use and how long does it last?

(now I really want one!)

For the S/C cars, Eaton themselves are not in favor of the Goodyear Gatorback brand. The GB has a slit type design that doesn't meet with with the S/C pulley causins squeling on wear in. I like a smooth design with no ribs.

I will put the used one on my car up for sale to the interested thread started for a decent price--I don't think I will ever go through my hoard of them in the next??? So that being said---I think the pully was a great investment and bought my first one before all the debates on it and never looked back---I will try to post some video's of it this specific pulley this week if i am able

---All I know is that I bought my car new, put the kleeman on around 30-40,000 miles on my car, have driven the dog poop out of it for a total of the 160,000 i have on the car now with the original supercharger--all working flawlessly

Bump for an old thread.

Just installed my ASP pulley today..........and I'm still smiling. For $350 (after core charge) I don't know why anyone M111 owner would not put this on their car.

I'm about to lose some man points here, but here goes: I didn't do the DIY. Not because it would have been super hard to do, but more because I just didn't have the time. To anybody that has a little bit of mechanical inclination following the directions from Buell's website would make it relatively easy. The pulley also comes with a step-by-step install guide, but lacks the pretty pictures that Buell has. For me, I'm taking the car down the coast along hwy1 next week, and things are pretty busy right up until I leave. Obviously having the pulley in for the trip is a MUST.

To anyone in the Vancouver area looking to have the same thing done: I had the install done at Henneken Auto by Oak and Marine. They did a great job and the damage was $159 and it took them about two hours. They have star diagnostic there too, so it is also a cheaper alternative for any programming that might need to be done for future mods.

Anyways, thanks for all the info in this thread. It made my decision pretty easy!

Now having my Kleeman unit for approx, 65k miles. No problemos.

Plus, I had my S/C rebuilt, and when done, the Steig guys said it was in awesome shape. No excessive wear from the Kleeman unit.

The only reason I don't have it is bc of $$$$ . I spent all of it in the look first then I'll go in the engine bay. + Vegas last spring break did'nt help either.

Also where did you get the pulley? I thought ASP were out of stock.

Not bad, but 2 hours?
I'm not fast, but I can do it in an hour alone, without a lift.
And that includes a beer break.

Pulled? Like pulled pork?
Or like pulled by a tow truck?
Depends how fast the truck is driving.

Or did you mean Pullied?
Yes, a pullied M111 can easily pass a stock C320 since it's making more HP than the C320. (and a little lighter)

I do like the smoothness of the 6, but wouldn't enjoy replacing 12 sparkplugs or dealing with 12 poorly designed, unreliable coil packs.
UNLESS it was a C32.

Ya? Did you do it it with the manu or auto tranny?

Maybe I should have done it myself.... But that would have meant working on my car late late at night and then cabbing it to work the next morning if things went south. Probably for the best I handed over the bills on this one.

Nah, you got a good deal, assuming they did it right, and lined up the key, and torqued it guttentite!
It really does have to be at over 200 ft lbs.
You need a $120 torque wrench to do it.

I did it with the auto, but my 1st time, I had a local person, who's a member here, and also was one of the beta testers for all the different versions of the pulley PLUS he's a mechical engineer,
teach me how...
well, it was like, I'd pay him 50 bucks, and I'd do the hard parts.

I pulled it on and off so many times, to go in for warranty service, that once I watched a few times I got pretty good, bought my own wrench, and eventually I figured out how to do an auto by myself.....
a little duct tape to hold a socket extention in place...
but it's not fun, as it's hard to get it in the just the right place.

My lack of trust would likely prevent me from turning it over.
BTW 20 degree on the pulley put the key facing up.
(I forget it's ATDC or BTDC)
Otherwise you gotta feel for it.

It took a friend of mine and me about 2 hours to install too with an auto. But we had to pull the radiator fan and other fun bits to get the impact wrench to fit
