WTB W211 E55 Engine Mods
Hi!
Just got a 05 E55. I want to upgrade the engine. Not too crazy buy I want a little more juice then stock. I am a complete noob. Never thought I'd call my self that, but I am. I have a decent budget but rather stay with in $1K-$1.5K. Any and all suggestions are GREATLY appreciated.
Thanx!!

Yeah I'm down with all that! Where tho? It seems like there are only a couple places that do the work and the prices are a bit steep. I guess that's what you get for driving a $90K sports car. Still want suggestions!!!

check the forums -- very useful -- you can get a used pulley and headers for your budget -- each item requires about 2 1/2 hours to install -- if you get a mild pulley you can get away without dyno tuning--- which costs +$1000 -- but of course tuning will get you best results... I am not going to have my car tuned.
I found a used pulley for less than $500 and people have used headers for under 1g...
read my threads because many smart members gave me the same advise

wow - i dont think he can get all that -- from my many readings on this forum -- tuning alone can easily be over $1100. but this other guy knows better than me --- have him point you the way and do it!!! that would be a great deal. upgraded Heat exchanger 'HE' - upgraded pump - pulley and a tune!!!

Thank you guys for ALL the wonderful suggestions. I got my car tuned TODAY by Jerry at LET (he had a client with the device right here in Malibu!) and let me tell you, WOW! I thought it was all BS but you really do get some decent gains. The car is noticeably faster and sounds more aggressive. I got a great price on the tune and the best part is that if I decide to do the pulley later down the line they wont charge me for a re-tune. I've been driving all afternoon and it really really is true that you can get a good amount of gain just with the tune. A+ if you're working on a budget and want some extra juice.

well- after I do my mods --- I dont think I will need the extra 10whp... dont get me wrong it would be nice but not for the amount of money they are charging for tunes. That is my plan.... but who knows... catch me after a lucky day at the casino or trading stocks -- I will be more likely to splurge on a well priced tune.

I didn't dyno but just form driving I can tell you FOR SURE I got more then 10 rwhp. Its unbelievable. I can see how people would be skeptic, I was until I just pulled the trigger and got it done.

well- $500 tune is a far cry for the normal $1200.... $500 is much more reasonable for me.

Hit me up and I'll send you hommies number. The "computer and codes" are still in town. He has to mail them back tomorrow, maybe you can catch him before he does. If you cruise up to Malibu I can meet you and you can drive my car to see what everyone is raving about!

I would be curious to see what your AFR's and Inj Duty Cycles are at after this tune. If you ever decide to get your car dynoe'd would you mind asking the guys to log your AFR's for you?
