Hi, I bought my car in PA (where a front plate isn't required). The dealer did the registration for my state (NY). I received the plates, but now I find there are no holes in the front a license plate. Anybody know of a license plate bracket I can use? I tried searching on the mercedes website to see if there's an official part and there isn't.

(it's a lease - so technically a modification would violate my contract anyway).

I actually have the reverse question, bought one in Chicago, where it's required and is already drilled in. @sak12345 , dealer will drill the holes in for you, by the way. Does anyone have a neat solution to covering up the holes without requiring the front license plate bracket?

The part number is A294 885 40 01 but Mercedes still hasn't added it to their database so it's basically unobtainium.

I'm in the same situation. It's a leased vehicle, so I'm looking for a front license plate holder that can be installed without drilling holes if at all possible

Same problem. I live in New York, front plate is required, car had this mount in trunk but I can't figure out how to use it. Intuition tells me the clip in the center is supposed to lock on a vertical rib in the bumper (under the camera) but it's too short.

New York State Corporation and Mercedes Corporation expect you to drill three holes into the bumper where those three pegs (or whatever they're called) are supposed to snap into. You'll have to take measurements and guesstimate the exact positioning as there's no template.

And never forget the corporate state works for other legal entities like Mercedes, not living, breathing entities like you and me. Otherwise Mercedes would get the ticket for selling a car like that in a state where a front plate is required.
