Automatic Wipers/visible Air pocker under Windscreen

Hi MBWorld Geniuses,
I just changed from an EQB 350 AMG Pinnacle to an EQE 350+ SUV Exclusive. I noticed that the Wipers are not as “intelligently” wiping in Auto Setting as they did in my EQB. I could leave it in the Automatic Setting in the EQB and forget about it. They came on when needed and stopped when not. In the EQE now, they continue to wipe like in a standard intermittent Setting and do not stop. ?? I noticed that there is some Air trapped by the Cameras in the lowest Part, not sure if this is the Rain sensor. This might mess with the readings and give false rain reading? I try to post a Picture where this Air is visible. It looks like it is coming off the Windscreen glass.
Thanks for any input.
BTW, It was so worth the change from the black AMG Interior to the light gray EQE, so much nicer in here. Hated the black AMG interior, that was a compromise as Mercedes Factory in Hungary messed up my Order and delivered without the Driver Assistent Package. MB Dealer found me a close to my original Order Vehicle from national Inventory and I accepted the AMG. Took a huge loss on the EQB to get out of it with the bad Battery Issue.

That looks to me like the previous owner had a suction cup attached there and it wouldn't stick properly so they put some silicone or other adhesive under it to hold it on. You might be able to carefully remove it with a razor blade scraper. Use some lubricant ( water and dish soap maybe or perhaps a spray glass cleaner) and go at it lightly or you might scratch the glass. Cover the dash or whatever is under that spot with a cloth or something to prevent any damage to the interior from any drips from the lubricant. If that spot is not on the outer surface of the glass then maybe your windshield is delaminating.

I am not sure that is the source of your problem with your intermittent wipers. If you have the proper setting on the turn signal stock it may be a problem in the clock spring or the stock. May be worth asking your service assistant at the dealer.

I had this happen on our EQE SUV. The adhesive is failing. Bring it in to the dealership, they'll replace the sensor under warranty, calibrate it, and you'll be back in business. It seems that the adhesive can't take the heat over prolonged periods and then stops working. The new sensor seems to be fine.

And yes, that's your rain sensor. The air gap (or rather, the extra reflections from change in angle of the sensor) makes it think there's rain or something else on the windshield, thus triggering operation.

Haha……looks like I was way wrong on that one. Sorry for any confusion!

Thank You Bytemaster0, That confirmation helps my Confidence.
Do You also know if there is any other System in the Car relaying on this Sensor? I can live with the Wiper Automatic not going, as it leave me with something active to do while driving on long drives. While most of it is now taken care of and I feel like a mindless Passenger.
Thanks again.

It could also affect the automatic lights, which come on automatically after a certain number of wipe cycles, which would be appropriate in the rain. That said, I don't remember if the car actually did this, or if we just switched off the wipers anyway for the day or so before we had it fixed. It's possible the car knew the sensor was completely out of compliance, and enters a fail safe state of applying some wipers in case it's needed (driver fails to notice and requires wiper usage) but disabling other component interactions until it works properly. Any other interactions should be minimal. I forget where the daylight sensor is, it may be the same unit, but that should theoretically still work.
