Media shortcuts disappeared?

Did anyone else's media/radio shortcuts disappear? Meaning, when you hit the MBUX multimedia sources button (radio), it usually takes you to an intermediate screen where it's easy to switch inputs, select favorites, etc. If you tap that screen again, it usually also then takes you to the full-screen version. When on navigation, the media button also has seek controls on it. Yesterday, those buttons disappeared on me. That usually happens if the car has just been turned on, or once in a blue moon, and then parking and restarting always solves it. However, my shortcut screen and buttons seem to be gone for good. I've even reset the entire MBUX system. When I use no profile, the media button works as expected. However, as soon as I log in with my profile, it disappears. It's pretty annoying because the shortcut screen was much easier to use quickly while driving. The larger, full-screen version requires much more pointing around. I suspect that something has glitched in my profile somehow, and I really don't want to reset everything on my profile. Any others have this issue show up?

Have the same issues in my two SUV's. Reset did not solve it. Extremely annoying. No new software updates on my end.

When I got the latest MBUX version upgrade a few months ago, it cleared all of my shortcuts including non-audio related favorites. When I tried to recreate them, I found I could only add radio shortcuts but I swear I thought I had media shortcuts also.

I just took a drive and noticed you're right about the Media nugget. It seems like it's just the album cover now and seek buttons are gone. IIRC, it used to switch between Previous/Pause/Next and sometimes just Next. But now it's not showing anything at all.

In fact, the entire Zero Layer bar hasn't updated in months and still shows things like seat heating from winter even though I've been using seat ventilation.

Zero layer "reduced mode" media controls missing

Thanks for the feedback. MB calls the Zero Layer media window "reduced mode", and the non-zero layer, full-screen version "expanded mode." Both of my cars now only show media controls in "expanded mode". I did a full MBUX reset last night, and the controls came back until I logged in with my profile. (minus the 20 minutes I spent reconfiguring all my settings) Then poof, gone. The issue now is happening on both our EQEs. I do think it must be centrally connected to Mercedes Me Connect, because as soon as the profile loads, it breaks. Everything else is fine for me, just not the media controls, which is really annoying as the "reduced mode" is super convenient. Please everyone else that notices this, chime in. After calling in a second time, I've asked the issue to be escalated, if I can get more feedback, that would be great, and maybe they'll start looking into it.

I noticed the media controls different on my screen too. When on the navigation screen the media box had the "next track" icon on it...which has disappeared. BUT I see the prev track and next track icons now next to the home button. Not sure if that's what you meant by the seek button.

Thanks for confirming this behavior. This is exactly what I mean. The seek buttons have always shown for me next to the home buttons, but the ones on the media button AND the zero layer interface itself are gone. I think MB updated something in the Mercedes Me Connect profiles and it has broken zero layer on EQEs. At a minimum, it may be because they are expecting a certain version number of NTG to be present. I spoke to MB CAC and Me Connect folks, they all thought I was from the moon. I spoke to my dealer shop supervisor, who is incredible, and he and I were immediately on the same wavelength. He's checking other cars now. Mine goes in on Monday for recall services, so he's hoping to at least have some information by then. If anything is resolved at the profile level or through an MBUX update, I'll be sure to post here.

Update: The "reduced view" for zero-layer media controls and seek buttons have returned! It appears that MB realized that something was amiss. If you've started your car today and allowed your profile to sync (takes about a minute), please let me know if your controls and views for zero-layer are back.

My 2024 AMG EQEX4 has now returned to the prior media control layer. What is puzzling to me is why there is no communication of the changes either in the car or on my phone.

I'm sure it was a mistake, an unintended consequence of a back-end change to the system.
