It's very shiny plastic. Unless you coat it, I'd expect it to get scratches. If your skin is anything like mine in colder and dryer months, I'd swear it could even scratch a phone screen, lol. I ceramic coated my car, but I always make sure I avoid that area unless it's been made wet first, especially when washing.
