A few years back when I saw car companies start to drop MP3 and CD players from cars I started downloading songs bought off sites and stored them on thumb drives I now use in all my cars. My problem is the sound quality is pretty bad compared to satellite radio such as Serius etc. Is there a higher quality site to buy and download now to thumb drives or am I SOL? Thanks….

That’s pretty old school! Have you checked if your music collection is mostly available on Apple Music or Tidal Music? I feel like it’s much easier to go with those nowadays. It doesn’t give you the same sense of owning a copy of the music but does allow you access a large library of music.

Also, if you have any CD 's, it's easy to create MP3's from them and load them on to a thumb drive.

I can change the audio settings when I play songs from my thumb drives where they sound better but those same settings using satellite radio/songs are way too strong. I wish my EQS would save the different audio settings for each source but it does not….

I load my music onto a microSD in lossless flac format to maintain the original quality. MP3 quality is less than the original do to the lossy compression algorithm used.

I forgot about flac format. I haven't ripped a CD in a long time.
