Radar detector hardwire
#2
I did it on mine. First issue/problem is that the windshield only has 2 locations to point the radar out of since it is infrared. I have my toll pass on the bottom cutout and had to buy a different radar detector that would aim out of the top cutout. (I have the escort 360 max and the 360 max dashcam and neither would work). The only radar that was small enough and that would aim out of the small cutout was the Uniden R4. I ran the wire down the passenger B pillar and under the glove box to the switched cigarette lighter by the passenger footwell. Very easy job and the wire is completely hidden.

I realize this discussion is about how to install a wired radar detector, but I wanted to chime in that I use Waze with Apple CarPlay and find it to be very reliable on highways. I do not generally exceed the posted speed limits by more than 10 mph so I’m generally safe anyway, but in addition to warning of police ahead, Waze also alerts you of objects on the road, potholes, cars pulled off to the sides of the road, etc. And Waze will run in the background while viewing the Mercedes map if you prefer.

Does your SUV have the 12v accessory outlet in the passenger footwell? Mine does not. I am in the process of installing an outlet inside the center console. I started running a 14 awg wire from the fuse panel below the storage compartment under the cargo area. Three slots in this fuse panel are designated as 12v accessory outlet fuses. My SUV only has one of these used.
