Acceleration package

Acceleration Increase

COMING SOON - Accelerate more powerfully: increase the torque and maximum output of your Mercedes-EQ

Has any purchased this? So will this make 450 4Matic to accelerate to 0-60 by 1 extra second so that 450 performance becomes (almost) same as 580?

My understanding is - EQs 450 is 0-60 in 5.8-second while 580 is 4.5 seconds. And both 450 and 580 are dual motor.

I wish no one would pay for it.
We should let Mercedes know with our wallet that this type of intention crippling of performance is unacceptable.

Traditionally, performance version is made with suspension tuning, better brakes etc.
Here, they have all the hardware in place, and just on purpose cripple the performance to add an extra second in software.
And they expect you to pay a yearly fee on top of an already expensive car to remove that software restriction?
That's too greedy, Mercedes!

Wait I thought they shelfed this idea, and I heard there were negative press on this. BMW charged subscriptions for smartphone integration that backfired. Is MB really going to roll this out?

Looks like it:
https://shop.mbusa.com/en-us/connect...n-Increase/709
And all affected current cars (EQE 350, EQE SUV 350, EQS 450, EQS SUV 450) are released with crippled and reduced performance.

To be fair this page was up for a while now, I wonder if they are still debating if they want to proceed or they are not sure when they should release this.

Come on Mercedes, don't follow the Tesla way of putting your hands in our pockets.

$1,200 is a ridiculous amount for one year of 'Acceleration Increase', which BTW, we already paid for. It's just a simple software unlock and we already paid a very premium price for our vehicles.

So Is this true? The EQS 450 4Matic is just a software limited 580. So they have the same front and rear motors?

Very doubtful, there is a big difference in horsepower between the two. But I’m guessing based on the HP difference.

No, the 580 has 385kW output (516hp).
The 450 has 265kW (355hp) from factory and can be upgraded to 330kW (443hp).
So still a significant difference.

I called me connect assistance line, to ask when is this feature going to launch and they have no idea about the feature. The rep was saying on her end, she sees that this may be 1 time payment and not yearly subscription but she is not 100% sure. Me connect portal is allowing to purchase this feature though.. i tried going till the last screen where it says place the order… but stopped because final screen still says 1year option

meanwhile on EQE forum I see this

I have owned the 350 4matic for a month now and have activated this subscription a week ago and it’s definitely worth every penny. It is as described a “significant increase” in power. The 350 is now actually fun to drive. Punchy and responsive. I think it’s the perfect combination of range and power

Speaking of software unlock they also have the pay more for 10 degree rear wheel steering as well. I guess it is cheaper to manufacture one version of the vehicle and then software unlock it later than come up with different versions of the same vehicle, and therefore have to assign the assembly line to make different versions.

I do agree though, ugh come on Mercedes....

A one-time purchase is so much better but still though it should had been included when the customer bought the vehicle.... come on Mercedes....

Ok the EQE user who bought the package replied
Looks like Coming Soon is just a misnomer. It’s already live. If anyone buys it please update the forum on your experience.

My question: @shakoomakoo i see on me connect that acceleration package is marked as Coming Soon in US. Which country are you in? If in US then how did you buy this eventhough it says coming soon?

Answer: Yes I’m in the US. You can buy it, mine says expires 1/24/24 now and with in few hours I got a notification in the car that it was installed and that it will affect acceleration in all diving modes, and might reduce range

I mean here we were discussing about what if people vote with their wallets, now we hear about someone already buying it.

Very few people will buy it. Not worth the cost for most of us. This is a huge SUV not a race car.

I wonder if people will buy it mainly because it is a huge SUV and so it is heavy so it requires more effort to pull compared to the SUV sedan. Do I like this idea? no and I am not alone I guess, but regardless it is an option.... I guess.

For a SUV this heavy my 580 has great acceleration and this is from someone who has a chipped SL550.

lol, So sad to read comments like this. I guess this is why MB is doing it. There is nothing "Nice" about what MB is doing here.
They wanted to charge us for rear wheel steering too but they decided against it for the US market for some reason.
To be fair, they did get me to give them $200 for the dashcam. So while it seems like a dirty trick and I think its despicable... it works!
This is the way things will be done from now on I guess.

EQS 580 SUV
I too was hoping that no one will fall for this outrageous extortion attempt. My wife's xc90 has 316 hp is a lot quicker than my EQS 580 with 536 hp. I know my car is heavier but I was hoping at least for a similar experience.

They certainly trying to get people to subscribe
You would think they would spend that effort on R&D instead we would have better cars?
