Mid-cycle Update Wish List

I thought it would be fun to assemble a wish list for an eventual mid-cycle update. Hey Mercedes: "Are you paying attention?"
  1. Give us self opening/closing doors with soft close that you showed at the launch. At least give us soft close doors.
  2. Give us an option to have the wheel well surrounds painted the same color as the body. The matte and glossy black wheel well surrounds don't work so well with some body colors.
  3. Add a heat pump to the battery. (I assume this is coming for sure)
  4. Improve the key FOB functionality by automatically locking the doors as you walk away from the vehicle and recognize which key FOB is at the drivers door and automatically active that persons presets (seats, mirrors, entertainment settings, etc.)
  5. Implement the NFC-based Digital Key 2.0 specification so owners can use their smart phones to lock/unlock and start their EQS SUV with only their phone in hand.
  6. Allow owners to open the hood, add struts to hold the hood open, and move the washer fluid fill up to under the hood (remove the side filler door.) Owners should also be able to change their own cabin air filters.
  7. Offer the AMG 22" turbine wheels in the US market.
  8. Offer an EQS AMG 53 SUV model.

12. Add a Compare Models to the online build support listing all the features, which is included and which is optional. Trying to figure out what is in the Exclusive vs Pinnacle is impossible.
13. Add a 110v/120v inverter and plugs in cabin and rear
14. AM Radio support (US National Emergency Broadcast is AM)

The MBUSA website already has this, i think it's very clear on window stickers and the ordering guide as well.

Yes, whats included in the build you have is clear, but nit is not clear for a configure your own build. I was looking for a list of all the features in rows, with a column for each Trim, where the row intersects the trim column have an entry for Incl, Opt, or n/a. This allows a user to quickly identify whether a desired feature is in the trim, optional, or not available. It would be complex to design making sure features don't conflict, but it would be a much better user experience.

I can't help but think of the IT staff in the back end trying to keep all the "legal" configuration options up to date -- for each model -- for each country -- for each language -- and making it all play nicely together for an acceptable user experience. Mind boggling. While there is always room for improvement, I think a number of competitor configurators out there pale when compared to MB's.

Its not rocket science. They all have the same exact "Standard" features with the exception of what is listed in that pic. Each trim has the same features as the lower trim with the addition of what is listed under the higher trim Exclusive and Pinnacle . I don't think can get any easier than that.

Level 3 is definitely coming to the EQS sedan and SUV but it will be a slow roll out as most states do not yet allow level 3 vehicles. And when it does finally make it to your state, I would guess it will be at least a $6,000 option. Of course, if you can afford an EQS SUV, you likely can afford Level 3 autonomous driving.

16. Don't cover up the time on the gauge cluster when brake hold is on. Being able to see the time is useful when at a stoplight.

All of the above, but here are a few more:

1. power 3rd row seat - I had this in my 2014 GL, and now even as a 6' tall man I struggle pulling the 3rd row seats up. Why mess up something that worked great?
2. fix the 3rd row entry/exit feature - again from my 2014 GL, the power entry / exit is (1) slow and (2) the 2nd row seat does not go back to the original position after the exit is done. You have to use the door adjusters to move the seat back and recline it again every time. And while you are doing this, why can't I recline the 2nd row more than right now. Let us move the 2nd row forward to be able to add more recline to the middle row seats for a better nap while someone else is driving?
3. make a better extension on the front part of the seat so that you can have deeper seating base for tall people - it barely extends out. My 2014 GL had a deeper seat. For anyone who has had a BMW they do it best where the whole front part of the seat can extend out to make the seating area deeper.
4. Make sure the headrests and pillows can be adjusted to comfortable position for people that are 5'3" to 5'7" in height. Both my daughter and wife are constantly complaining they can get the pillow and headrest to be in a comfortable position (anyone else have this same problem?)
5. Move the hazard button so I don't keep pressing it by mistake when I rest my hand on the center console.

The doors are heavy. It really needs a soft close door as standard for such a luxury car. Looks like a miss.

Mercedes could reward us as the early adopter by providing some features by update. May be OTA but also at the dealership.

- In my car, only user registered cell phones can be charged wirelessly in the center console, I think they can make us start the car with those phones as well.

- They could also add profile key fob synchronization

17. Dedicated button (physical or screen) for heated steering wheel.
I want to be able to turn it on without turning on heated seat or using voice control.

This is a good suggestion. I completely forgot about it now that the weather has warmed up in the north east, but he’s right, this was a miss by MB.

They should move the button bar to below the hyper screen instead of having it near the storage box. I think they did it with the new E-class.

Wouldn't that be awesome if this car has an option for anti-roll bar? For such a heavy SUV, anti-roll bar would have been an awesome addition to keep it planted during curves.

I think most cars including EQS SUV have one. This is a picture I find, and it shows an anti-roll bar.

Thanks! I liked the Active Ride Control in AMG dynamic packages that are offered. I drove GLE 53 AMG with the dynamic package which had the active ride control, it is a lot better around the corner. I believe the Active Ride Control is a different take on anti roll bar.

Two more:

1. V2L charging so we can use the car to power devices while on a road trip or even to keep the lights on at home when the power goes out in a storm.
2. Ability to manually pre-condition battery when going to a non-EA charger (I have not figure out how to do this if it is already there)

Yes, what you're talking about is an ACTIVE anti roll bar. (Pretty much?) All cars have anti roll bars, it's a critical part of car suspensions systems. But yes, a modern advanced active anto roll bar, like wjhats in active ride control or e-abc would be welcmoe on the heavy EQ models.
