Always in Regen
So I have been testing out the Intelligent Recuperation and it has been working well. As I was using that I noticed whenever I brake it does the regen. So I even tested it out in No Recuperation mode and then also when I brake it does regen. Note: When I say regen, I see the % of regen changing. Now the question I have is, does the initial braking is always electric regen and once you push further only it engages mechanical breaking or does it vary. The reason for my question is that with Intelligent Recuperation, I do get better mileage and more relaxed drive around than Strong Recuperation but I tend to use the brake when the pedal goes down on its own and stops. I wanted to know whether after that stop point if I push further whether I am applying the mechanical breaking or not.
Any thoughts on this is appreciated.

The driving modes and recuperation modes are two separate process’. You can choose any level of recuperation in any level of driving mode. Driving modes are selected on the center console and recuperation modes are selected by way of the paddle shifters. I only use the comfort and sport driving modes and only use the strong and no recuperation modes.
I get the impression you have never driven a EQS.
I wish people would quit using the word regeneration for the EQS. In the owners manual and on the dash board it is named “recuperation”.

It's 100% drive by wire so your inputs are really just suggestions to the computer. You might have it on strong regen but battery is 100% so it brakes when you let off gas instead. Plus the front/back motors aren't the same. Might regen off back perm magnet motor but disconnects and brakes front at same time.
Personally I see no reason for the brake pedal to move at all, even in a "blended" system. Whatever Mercedes is trying to tell me with that feedback is completely lost on me. It's just plain distracting IMHO.

I actually have an EQS SUV. Didn’t see in the owner’s manual or anywhere else that just putting the car in DRIVE automatically means you are in intelligent mode. Since I’ve had the car which is about 1.5 months, my maximum range runs about 250-260 miles on 80% charge. Obviously I know about the shift paddles otherwise I wouldn’t ever be able to change the regen mode. Just trying different modes to increase the driving range at 80%.

When I start my 580 SUV it is always in “comfort” driving mode and “normal” recuperation.
