I completed the caliper painting project this weekend in advance of changing out the 21" wheels for more open 20" wheels. I considered using either ERA 2K Urethane or VHT spray paint. But in the end I chose G2 brush-on epoxy caliper paint. Using the brush-on paint eliminated the need to protect the rotors, wheel well, and exterior surfaces of the SUV from overspray. The rear calipers and pebble-finished areas of the front calipers turned out pretty well. However, brush marks on the flat smooth surfaces of the face of the front calipers resulted in a less than perfect finish. From three feet away the calipers look pretty good.
If I did this again, I would take the extra time to protect everything but the calipers and use the 2K Urethane spray paint. The VHT red caliper paint is pretty much an exact match to the G2 Mustang Torch Red color. So, I may scrape the paint off the face of the calipers and spray it with the VHT caliper paint.
The G2 kit includes 4.5 ounces of epoxy paint in the Caliper Kit and 6.75 ounces in the Engine Kit. Surprisingly, I used less than three ounces of epoxy to apply three coats to the front calipers and two coats to the rear calipers. Jacking up all four corners of the car seemed too dangerous. So I raised the front, applied three coats of paint to the front calipers, installed the front wheels while the paint was still wet, then raised the rear of the car to do the rear calipers. The painting process took four hours. The epoxy paint cures in 4 to 6 hours. I spent an additional four hours cleaning the calipers the previous day. I waited two days before applying the vinyl decals.

I am not completely satisfied with the way the smooth face turned out with the G2 brush-on epoxy. I do like the G2 paint on the rest of the caliper. This weekend I will take some pictures with the stock 21" aero wheels (A29640116007X23) and the open spoke 20" wheels (A29640103007X45).
