That's a lot of updates. I imagine the sedan will get similar ones. Almost like a mini-facelift but without the appearance changes.
Wish they'd bring the turbine wheels and night package to the US.

@Eaton Thanks for posting order guide.
Following changes will be game changer for 2024 EQS SUV:
I think the EPA range is from 2023, they need to get a new range and update the document. It was 285 previously with 107.8 kWh. Now with 118 kWh (assuming efficiency is similar) it should be easily greater than 310 miles for all wheel drive and perhaps close to 335 when disconnect unit comes into play. These figures will change for better if the efficiency of this new battery is better.
How come this doesn't mention Zync Streaming ?
This car will be lacking necessary hardware for Level 3 system. So from point of view of future it not a buy, but hooray for lease till MB OS + MMA Mercs show up. Those are simply awesome. Please read about it or see videos on new MB OS presentation given by Ola Källenius and MBRDNA Sunnyvale, CA.

I think 4MATIC Disconnect already exists on some of the 2023 580 - I can see that when I’m driving and how it switches between the two motors
also the file date is very inconsistent- for example somewhere said the 580 won’t has 108k battery and the at bottom part it’s saying will get 118k - sounds like a kid created the doc and hard to trust the date

No they do not. That only shows you the energy usage, it’s showing you that no energy is being sent to the wheel, not that it’s disconnected.

The DCU isn't used to control energy flow, it's to disconnect the front motor because the EQS has permanent magnet motors. Without the DCU, even if you cut power to the front motor, there is still a little bit of drag due to the permanent magnets. The DCU is a way to remove that drag.
It's pretty easy to see if your car has it. The EQE SUV has an entry for "A83 Vehicles with EATS engine separator clutch" if you search your VIN on mb.vin. It'd be interesting to see if there actually is an EQS with the same feature already.

No, that flow shows the DCU operation- when the DCU is open the energy won't flow to all the motors (RWD or FWD) and one of the motor won't use any energy, and when the DCU is closed the energy flow to all the motor (4WD). Apparently, some of the EQE /EQS built in 2023 comes with a DCU.
Again that screen just shows the energy distribution for 2022 and 2023 EQS's. There is no DCU in EQS's prior to 2024. After 2024 all EQ's will have a DCU.

As for the changes coming to the 2024 EQS SUV models, these caught my eye:
Nice changes:
- Hyperscreen standard on all models
- Updated regenerative braking
- Illuminated chrome trim on backs of front seats
- Powered charging port door
- Active ambient lighting (thought we had that now but we'll see)
- 110v/240v charging cable
- 5G communication module
- Soft close doors
- New paint colors: Moonlight White and Sonoran Brown metallic
- Removed gestures to open and close the sunroof (good riddance)
Changes that will improve range:
- Heat Pump
- 4MATIC Disconnect
- 118 kWh Battery
Missing:
- NACS charging port

Not quite as significant changes as the EQS Sedan but great stuff none the less. Wish they offered full auto doors like the Maybach will have but nice to see soft close at least. Interesting that they ditched five zone climate, but not a huge surprise.

Yeah, standard running boards is disapointing.
Interesting to see what happens with the bigger battery - the EQS Maybach still shows the 107.4 kwh battery, and I'll also be curious about any "trial"/pre production 2024s.

As a first time MB customer I have been eagerly waiting to be able to order the MY2024 EQS SUV to replace my ICE, so seeing the order guide here gives me hope our local dealer will start taking orders now.
I went through the 2024 order guide and noticed the list of standard features for the 580 is missing some items that are listed for the 450 4matic. I'm not sure if that's just documentation error, or these are really missing in the 580?
10-Degree Rear Axle Steering
4MATIC Intelligent Disconnect System
Heat Pump
2 Years of Complementary 30-Minute DC Fast Charging Sessions on the Electrify America Network
Complementary Maintenance for 2 Years / 20,000 Miles
Illuminated Running Boards
Mobile Flex Charging Cable (240v or 110v Charging)
Power Front Seats with Contour Ambient Lighting and Memory (241, 242)
From amongst the above the heat pump, the DCU and 10 degree rear axle steering are pretty useful so I would be sad if they were really missing in the 580. Any ideas?
Also can someone give me a high level idea about what I should expect starting with when I go to the dealer to put in my order to when the car is delivered? If that is already covered in a previous thread I'd appreciate a pointer.

The following is all standard for the 580X (check the DOG more closely):
10-Degree Rear Axle Steering
4MATIC Intelligent Disconnect System
Heat Pump
2 Years of Complementary 30-Minute DC Fast Charging Sessions on the Electrify America Network
Complementary Maintenance for 2 Years / 20,000 Miles
Mobile Flex Charging Cable (240v or 110v Charging)
I assume the running boards will also be standard once they debug the DOG but I hope they can be deleted, they don't offer much and only dirty your pant leg.

I did a Ctrl-F across the order guide for "heat pump" - I see it in MY24 Product changes under What's New (page 4), there it doesn't speak to any specific model. I also see a hit under Standard Equipment for EQS 450X (page 6), and EQS 450X4 (page 7). Page 8 which has the standard equipment for the 580 has this missing. How should I interpret that? Its the same with the other items I flagged above.

That's all definitely standard on the 580. Likely just a writing error. I wouldn't read so much into it. Don't worry

My dealer tells me their system is not accepting MY24 EQS SUV orders yet, does anyone know when that will open?
Also can some of the more experienced folks share the steps for what happens once I go place a build order with the dealer until I take delivery of the vehicle? I guess it is several months, what happens in those months?

I custom ordered an EQE sedan last year and it was a terrible experience. It might be a little better for you since I believe the SUV is produced in the US. Mercedes' factory order system is one of the least transparent and even dealers don't get much information. But make sure your dealer is transparent and proactive. Double check the submitted order and make sure they submitted it correctly, especially if there are any items the factory is not accepting at the time.
There's a few older posts on this forum with detailed information on the order process so search for those for order status codes and the like. In general, the dealer will submit the order, the factory will accept it and give an approximate production date. As it gets closer to the production date, the factory will lock in the config and you won't be able to make any changes. They'll provide a more exact production date as a "decade" of a month or the 1st, 2nd or 3rd third of a month. After production, the dealer should be able to provide the final configuration and I think a VIN.
You should be very comfortable with your salesperson and they should be well versed in the order process and be communicative.
Good luck and negotiate prices beforehand.
ETA: I placed the order with the dealer Nov '22, it was accepted Dec '22, produced in May '23 and delivered end of Jun '23. About 8 months but it was a sedan produced in Germany in the first year of production. Dealer initially thought it would be 4 months.
