My wife I test drove a 2024 AMG EQE SUV today. We wondered how it compares to our EQS 580 SUV. Here are my thoughts:

Likes:

• Loved many of the AMG appointments, the AMG steering wheel looks and feels great, the red seatbelts, and the beautiful AMG wheels.
• The tester was black on black and had a very nice stance.
• Handling was noticeably better on curvy roads, due to the AMG suspension upgrades and the shorter wheelbase. More fun to drive and felt lighter on its feet.
• The front seats were roomy and comfortable and felt almost the same as our EQS.

Dislikes:

• The brushed aluminum armrests do not look as good as the armrests in the EQS SUV.
• The back seat leg room was not as generous as our EQS, but not bad, just felt more cramped.
• The luggage area was noticeably smaller, we wondered if we could get all of our things in there for a vacation.
• The ride was a little too firm, even in Comfort mode (at least for us).
• I disabled all of the artificial sounds and yet the car continued to make a sound when excelerating. I couldn't find a way to disable it, we found it annoying.

All in all, it is a very nice EV. For us, the EQS SUV is still a better fit. It's roomier, rides better and feels more refined. We may test drive a loaded EQE 500 in the future.

The test drive confirmed to us that we made the right choice buying an EQS 580 SUV.

What color was the AMG EQE SUV? If it was not black, what did you think of the body-colored wheel arches?

It was black with a black/gray interior. But I get your question. The wheel arches on the EQS SUV should be body color. Which is one reason to go with a black EQS IMO.

A set of smooth glossy wheel arches can be purchased for under $500. I have been considering ordering four arches and having them painted to match the Diamond White Metallic body color. Since the arches are not attached with 3M tape, I believe they could be easily removed and replaced. I am a little concerned about how well the Diamond White color can be matched.
