Why does the max range never differ?

I can see added miles of range in the Range tab on the center screen but dash board screen always shows the same range as max.

The max is the theoretical potential range with the most efficient driving style. It essentially will only change as your battery degrades. There are obviously some assumptions behind it as to what is considered the most efficient driving style and it is likely lower in the winter to account for the reduce battery capacity when it's cold and you have to run the heater or on a really hot summer day with the AC on full blast, but otherwise it's a theoretical ceiling that you will likely never reach.

See here as well. It explains the maximum range about half way down: https://www.mbusa.com/en/owners/manu...s-on-the-range

Actually reading the notes again, max range is also based on the air conditioning system being turned off.

Understood. But why does my EQS ranges never differ. They do on the Range display in the console but not on the dash. My loaner EQE’s have always been different.

Can you post a picture? It should display your current range above the max range as shown here:

I see. So you are seeing a different current range in the instrument cluster than what's shown on the Range tab. Yeah, that seems odd. Maybe somebody has better insight. To be honest I've never compared these two places in any of the EQSes I drove, but the range displayed in the instrument cluster seemed to reflect the consumption and remaining charge.

It’s usually not an issue when it’s near optimal battery temperate but as things get colder even on the coast in California I should see the dash values change which it doesn’t. Very strange.

The max range figure in your driver display is completely different from the range display you’re showing on the central display.

The central display is showing you the max range mode feature and is letting you know that if you activate it, it’ll gain you an additional 7 miles of range.

The max range figure in the drivers display is just that. It’s saying, based on your photos, the maximum possible range at your current charge is 249 miles.

If your driving style was very aggressive/inefficient, your normal range would be shown as less than the max range. You want these numbers to be the same essentially, which yours are.

They’re not supposed to match unless everything is optimal for range and there’s nothing to turn off. Otherwise why bother displaying the same value twice. My loaners are always different.

hi

this is the image

as you can see the percentage extra potential range is high, if the range was 300 then the max range would be 360+

on our old EQB this had the same range and max range display, but you could put the vehicle into maz range mode by using the EQ screen as below

which you could use to turn off functions including the display
