2023 suv buy back
2023 suv buy back
I had opened a case with MB for a buyback few months ago and it just got approved. Vehicle had several issues including persistent battery malfunction errors and had spent enough time in the shop last two years to qualify I guess. I am awaiting final numbers but want to check this forum if anyone has completed a buyback for EQS suv. What should I lookout for ? All tips appreciated.

26 EQS 400 SUV, 23 EQS 580 SUV (sold), 19 X7 (sold), 17/14 GLS550 (sold), 13 GL550 (sold)
I hope all goes well with your buy-back.
We owned a GL 550 that turned out to be a lemon and was approved for a buy-back but only toward another Mercedes vehicle. They didn't care which vehicle we selected but the buy-back was basically handled like a trade-in toward the next vehicle which was a newer GLS 580 SUV that fortunately never gave us any issues. The dealership was very nice to work with and handled the buy-back very well.

I am really hoping to get cash back since I paid MSRP during peak 2022 market - 😂 . The first battery issue happened the same week I took delivery, so I expect almost no mileage proration.
Wanted to post an update on the buyback for posterity. The process completed last month successfully. The refund included the original purchase price , sales taxes, interest payments. insurance premiums , subscription fees and registration fees. If any of these are not offered initially, you need to ask and they approved it. My car also had a few exterior cosmetic defects like scratches and wheel curb scrapes and there was no charge as MB is currently going with "as is" policy. Overall the process was lengthy but totally worth it. I applaud MB for putting their customer first and doing the right thing at every step.

The process of procuring a replacement vehicle was more cumbersome than the buy back. Initially I was pretty set on getting a gently used 2024 450+ eqs sedan, since I don't have much use for a giant SUV right now. I actually like the styling of the sedan better and the 24 model has the larger battery, heat pump and efficiency is much better than the 580 SUV. It is also more agile and break feel is better but still somewhat mushy. The deals were crazy good in March when I started shopping around, like leases were going for 650$ a month with MSRP reduction of 35K + 7.5 EV credit. My buyback completed in April and by that time most of the lease inventory was already liquidated, the auto tariffs kicked in, demand for used cars shot up and dealers started demanding upto 900$ a month. I didn't feel like taking on such monthly payments at this time for an EQS with residuals set at 42% for 3 year lease. I tried shopping around for Lexus RX and Porsche Macan EV but no one was offering anything less than MRSP, which I promised myself I will never do again. I also tried the Lucid air but found the motor whine unbearable.
I ended up picking up the new model 3 rear wheel for a dirt cheap 2 year lease for now. It is sporty and gets the job done with supreme efficiency like ~5 miles / Kwh compared to 2.5 I got on the EQS. Also the self driving is fantastic and I barely drive myself anywhere anymore. I do want to get back to real luxury after this and I hope the EQS line sticks around when I am done with this lease. Wishing you all best of luck with your EQS - I will miss my spaceship !
