Speed Limit Indicator
I understand that simple flushing means that I go over speed limit, but this was on a stop light, and while slowly moving after.
Happens all the time, in the same general area.
Anybody noticed that?
I have never had it happen at or near a stoplight, however.
If it's happening in the same area each time for you, then I might wonder if there's a "geo coding" error where somebody has put in 0 mph to the database.
If the flashing happens in a lot of places, where it never used to before, then I would ask the dealer service.
1. Map data
2. Caltrans online speed limit data (mostly construction zones?)
3. Speed limit signs
I find the Caltrans data causes problems as the electronic constructions zones do not line up well with the real construction zone, sometimes starting well before the construction zone, and remaining long (months) after construction is finished. On I-680 there was a section where the car would drop to 45 mph for a construction project that had ended nearly a year before. This bad data caused me to oppose having mandatory speed limit warnings in cars when the issue came up in the legislature a couple of years ago.
Because of this, I turned off the speed limit warnings, there are just too many places where that over the air data is wrong, and I frequently have to override the set speed to return to the true speed for certain sections of road. It is also the case that there are a few sections of road where drivers are routinely doing 65+ in 55 or 50 zones. Since they are not well marked with speed limit signs, it is not surprising that drivers think the speed limit is 65 in those locations.
