This EQS reminds me of a pod. Something one might see at the Epcot Center, in the German Pavilion, as part of a futuristic “People-Mover” exhibit. Being the traditionalist that I am, I really don’t care for it. I could easily imagine this thing with no steering wheel or driver controls, headed into the sunset on some deserted highway, while the synthesized voice is reciting a bedtime story for the passengers. After listening to the morning news, with all the insanity going on out there and then seeing this EQS “thing,” it makes you want to go down and buy a brand new Dodge Charger Hellcat!
Clearly Mercedes is applying the principle of form follows function with the EQS. Relative to the W222 the EQS's Cd is 20% lower. For the same frontal area this translates into a 73% reduction in aerodynamic drag. Given that I think that Mercedes has done a great job with this car.

They also did a very nice job on the interior.
If the price/lease rate is right, we'll take one...

Interesting. I really dislike the color dip into the wheel arch but looking at the various cars/colors, the two-tone would be my preferred one. It makes the car look less plump

Would love to see a configurator and pricing. Of the three versions they showed, I think the White looks the best on the outside due to the high contrast of the grille and headlights vs the body, and the absence of chrome (all the other variants have hideous amounts of chrome).
I think this car will look great in Dark Blue, Dark Green, Magno Selenite Gray, Silver, all with the AMG Package and Night Package
On the inside, I hate the AMG interior, just as I hate the AMG interior on all non-AMG Mercedes. They just look cheap compared with the luxury interiors with diamond stitching.
Also the absence of any pricing or release date leads me to think this car will not arrive this year.

The AMG exterior trim definitely appears to be a must on these cars...

I couldn't do the two tone, it just looks too aftermarket in my eyes and doesn't fit the vehicle.
There are images where I start to like the looks, like this one:
But then there are others where I find faults and aspects I don't like that are a bit too much like an econobox, like this one:
In the end, its definitely something you'll have to see in person. My hopes is that the SUV's will retain a more "traditional" look due to the squared back design. I'm just not sure this "one bow" design language is working for me yet with its short and stubby nose and tail, but regardless, I give Mercedes props for putting in a real effort finally and trying to shake up the space, even if it isn't my cup of tea.

I just found my next car. The EQS is out of this world awesome in my opinion. The futuristic look and incredible technology Is beyond belief. My current lease runs out on October 1, but I'm pretty sure I can extend it for months. I realize that some of you don't particularly like the way it looks but I think it's great. I can't wait to see more details about the EQS.

I’m not in the market for one, but wow I’m in love. I find the “standard” design rather boring, but the AMG line in silver is just gorgeous. The interior with their black New-Tex I believe it’s called + hyperscreen just rocks. Seeing the spy shots of the exterior I was scared it was gonna be terrible but I’m genuinely impressed. Carwow got 3.9 to 60 with 3 people in the car (rated at 4.3), great range, beautiful attention to detail, superb tech, and great charging speeds. This is finally the “Tesla Killer” or at least real Tesla competitor people have been waiting for. Hopefully the EQE will be just as impressive. I’m also shocked at it’s availability, will be on sale in Europe in the next couple months and here by fall, rather quick for them.
