2022 Mercedes EQS 580
I think it will be lower unless it is priced much higher than the S580. There is far less to maintain so servicing costs will be lower for sure. And I anticipate EVs will continue to hold their value better than ICE vehicles because of the sunsetting of ICE vehicles in coming years.

Tesla confirms plan to open Supercharger network to other automakers next year
imo, we can't exactly count on it happening in the U.S. anytime soon. I'd say it is a "possibility" for 2023, or later.

Tesla owners would scream like babies if other brands were allowed to charge also. We have a local grocery store in Katy, Texas near I-10 with 10 stations and last Sunday at 11:30 all 10 were full with two waiting.

Also don't forget that frequent super charging is actually bad for the battery, so most folks will do most of their charging overnight at home. I have free super charging for the life of my ownership of my Model S, but I still do most of my charging overnight at home. Before COVID, I typically only drove about 50 miles a day, so I had no problem charging at home. Now I drive even less. I will only super charge maybe 1 to 2 times every 2 months just to spend some of Elon's money instead of mine. My wife and I will grab some food, eat and watch Netflix in the car while charging or play a couple of the old school video games in the car's entertainment section. Before I bought the car I use to think that the charging time would be an issue, but I have actually been disappointed on several occasions that the car charged too quickly and I had to leave before we could finish watching the movie.

I own a Tesla Model S and here in the Northern VA area, new Tesla charging stations are popping up all over the place. When I got my Model S in 2018, there were maybe 2 or 3 supercharger stations (each with at least 6 slots) that I considered local (in close proximity to my home). Now there are at least 7 stations I consider local, one of those has 12 slots. In addition to showing the location on the map, the nav also shows the number of available slots at the station. I routinely see 6 or 7 slots available on the stations that come up on my map. Tesla will also limit charging when a station has high usage and will charge an idle fee if your car sits too long after you finish charging so I doubt there will be an issue, at least in the near term (especially given the relatively small number of non-Tesla EVs in this area). Tesla could also charge non-Tesla owners more and say that they will use the extra revenue to expand the network. That should keep us Tesla owners happy. But I do need to disclose that I may be a little biased because I plan to buy an EQS .

It's funny I don't recall seeing the DOT or NHTSA building something like this.

I live in the Reading, PA area and there isn't a single Electrify America charging station within 30 miles. They definitely need to a lot more coverage in PA. Even on routes I would travel to vacation there are very few of their charging stations. I checked their coverage map and they still have nothing planned for our area or near the Finger Lakes. I hope this improves quickly.

I just looked at their locations as well. Currently there isn't any charging stations within 20 miles of either of my homes in New England or Florida. So the free two year subscription will virtually go unused unless they rapidly expand. Their plans to double by 2025 just don't cut it for me. I was planning on installing a charger in my garage, but if I wanted to take a 2 hour drive to Orlando, there currently are very few chargers available in that tourist destination. Even looking along the 95 corridor from North to South there are very few options.

My nephew has a Tesla Y as well and has no trouble traveling around the northeast from RI to Vermont. One can only hope they share the Tesla chargers. That would be a gamechanger.

Initially there will be some really upset Tesla owners when they show up to a charging area and all the spaces are filled with other brands of cars.....

I haven't seen talk of differential pricing for non-Teslas, but if there turns out to be a significant premium for non-Teslas (and/or big dollar payments by MB or other OEMs to Tesla, for access to the Tesla network), then Tesla owners might be ok with the whole scheme...for example if it costs 2x more to charge a non-Tesla, and Musk tells the world that 100% of the revenues from non-Tesla use of Superchargers will go toward further expanding the Supercharger network.

"in the US, Tesla is going to be able to apply for federal funding to deploy new Supercharger stations once the network is open to other electric vehicles." That's thanks to the big infrastructure bill. Details here: Tesla opening Supercharger network will enable access to new $7.5 billion EV funding in US

A real-world range test of various EVs (no MBs though):

Summary vs WLTP:
https://youtu.be/jfQkGU9MxfU
Summary vs WLTP:
Those WLTP ranges for all those particular vehicles are only achievable if they were traveling downhill with a tailwind.
So that means that the WLTP 400mi range of the EQS is really just over 300 miles.
