I have augmented reality on the GLS (screen only). I dont like it at all. A very annoying gimmick.

Agreed. I've found that one of the only useful parts of the car's Nav system is the map graphic projected onto your HUD. That and charging availability. Other than that I still use CarPlay 95% of the time.

However, in my experience, I still rely on CarPlay for the majority of my navigation needs. It offers a familiar and seamless integration with my smartphone, allowing me to access a wider range of apps and features.
Using Google Maps via Car Play, the HUD will similarly project the turn graphics. But, I have the regular HUD, not the AR, can’t speak to that use case

Not an Apple fan but there's simply NOTHING better than Waze (period). Users are the real network. It's saved me more than once from hitting objects in the road. And maybe from a hidden cop or two. Not that I was speeding or anything like that... I obey all traffic laws at all times (you hear that Geico?)

I have been using Google Maps and Waze exclusively for the last 3 years or so, I travel a lot and drive around a lot every day, I haven't seen any "major flaws". The only issue is connectivity, if you have no cell service then you have no Google Maps or Waze, but those rare instances have been the only times I have felt there was any reason to use the onboard GPS.
