I'm slowly getting to know the functions of my EQS 580. Today I tried out the Navigation function. I'm coming from a Tesla Model S. I have to say the EQS Nav screen is a disappointment. On the Tesla screen each and every leg of the trip is shown in a vertical list along with the distance that you have to travel on it. Unless there is an option on the EQS that I can't find in the car or in the manual, you have no visibility into where you are going and what the multiple intermediate steps are. Am I wrong?
On the PLUS side of the ledger, I love the maneuverability of the the EQS (especially in a U turn) and I find the regeneration function at its strongest level, equal to the Model S's which I loved very much. Also the little pillows on the head rest are a surprise. I find them very comfortable.
The video is in German and maybe they castrated the US software, but I believe starting at the following mark he brings up what you are looking for (screenshot). You have to wait until the route optimization is done, and then you tap on the tile in the top left corner to see a detail of the legs and stops and for how long you have to charge, as well as current traffic delays on the route. And I believe using the buttons below you can modify the charging stations, and/or add other stops etc. I've seen several videos of him playing with this. The configurability is actually way better in the EQS. For example you can configure at what percentages you wanna arrive at the charging stations separate from how much you wanna have left at your destination. He gives the system high praises over the Tesla system. In parts of Europe, other EVs can now also charge at Tesla superchargers and they show up in the EQS system, and get factored into the route planning. The EQS also allows you to filter the charging stations, so you can avoid stopping at only 50kW chargers.
Still no go on the app but in car works as it shows in the video. Tested a psuedo destination of NYC and it popped in the charging stations etc.
Regarding the app, I've just been made aware in another context that the apps and features apparently are subject to what MB USA is willing to support. The US version of the Mercedes me connect app is still missing several of the features/services that are available in other markets including Canada, and it apparently hinges on MB USA willing to support them. Turns out this is why we still don't get the AMG Track Pace phone companion app in the USA for AMG models. A bit lame.
