How does one deactivate Apple Car Play?

How does one deactivate Apple Car Play?
When I place a call by asking “Hey Mercedes, call so and so”, the response is Apple Car Play is activated and therefore use Car Play to place the call. I like Car Play but it seems to be easier to just use Mercedes to call someone. I tried everything I know of on the car screen to deactivate Car Play but I can’t find how to do so. Does anyone here know how?

You have to deactivate it on the phone. Go to Settings|General|CarPlay, select your car and then "Forget this car". But you won't be able to use CarPlay anymore after that until you reactivate it. CarPlay takes over the phone functions, so Bluetooth is disabled while CarPlay is active. All the phone functions are handled by CarPlay. You can say "Hey Siri, call so and so", or press and hold the voice control button to summon Siri and then "Call so and so". This is partly why I prefer wired CarPlay. If I wanna use CarPlay I connect my phone, and if I don't wanna use it, I disconnect the phone. You don't have that option with wireless CarPlay.

There is a much easier way to do that. Go to Phone, then click on the Bluetooth icon on the button of the page. Make sure the phone icon is highlighted on your phone and not the apple carplay icon.
