Near the end of July my 2021 S580 was in the shop for a defective front left airbag. While it was there I went to see the EQS. They had 3 450's and I test drove one. It had a dash option that looked plastic with little stars that I did not like. The other one parked outside also had some deal breakers, but the one in the showroom did not have anything that would bother me other then the light beige carpet. I said if he could get me some gray floor mats I would take it. After all that, it actually came with gray mats anyway but they were not put in while in the showroom.

Other then the charge flap issue, the car has been pretty flawless. I do notice sometimes I have no control over the center screen for several minutes after startup (can't change music). Other times I can use the screen right away. I can't figure out what makes it act differently sometimes? It could be if the car goes into sleep mode or maybe if I double lock the car (hit remote twice). I don't know but it is not that big of a deal other then not knowing.

I hope it continues to be trouble free. The flap issue did come back and went away on it's own. I guess time will tell.

All interestingly.

I never turn on the radio, nothing I can hear. Have never locked the car with the key.

EQS 580
I have 2 EQS's in the family; both had the charging flap problem and were rectified at the dealer. One car was delivered with the problem while the other took 5 months to manifest itself. I sure wish MB had used the same locking mechanism that they used on their gas cars for years. It was reliable, plus there was a backup method to open the door if the locking mechanism failed.

As a side note, I had both cars' head unit software updated while there. In both cases, they were at 2.x version when a 3.x version was available. Besides slight changes to the software, the center screen seems much more responsive! Worth checking into, if you have to bring your car in for service. It takes a couple hours for the update. Fortunately I was able to get a loaner from the dealer.
