Hidden feautures

I thought this would be a fun way to make a list of features that are not mentioned anywhere and that are surprising and useful.
Here's one I found...

You might think this is only an "unlocked" indicator, however it has a dual purpose....

It also serves as a guide to keep the seatbelt out of the way when you close the seatback in the locked position!

You can turn off your key fobs emitter by double pressing the lock button. Turn it off to save the fobs batteries or if you are paranoid about key fob signal theft.

Key FOB turns itself off after no motion. Don't keep it in your pocket or purse and it shuts off after a certain time frame.

And it turns back after movement. So if you are walking and want to save batteries or paranoid, you can turn it off movement or not. I.e. walking in the mall etc.

BTW I think the keyfob has a sleep function. Since the car is garaged, I leave my key in the car every night. The next day when I try to start my car it will tell me the key is not detected, unless, I jiggle the bag where I keep my key!

Just discovered this last night while driving home. With lane keeping assist on, if you start to cross over the lane, the headlights will display an arrow on the pavement in front of you that points back to the center of the lane. Love this car!

I didn’t realize until a few days ago that the car drives itself for ever as long as you keep a light light and loose touch the steering wheel. I knew that if you touch the wheel prior to 15 seconds it will keep on driving.

What are you talking about ? To make her drive herself you need to engage the self driving by two buttons ON and than SET. You better keep your hands on the steering wheel all the time because the self driving/ lane keeping is not reliable at all especially on the curvy roads. If you don't touch the steering wheel for 15 seconds than she will prompt you to do so. If you press the brake than the self drive will be disengaged and you can re-engage it by the RESUME button. That's all. It is all logical and exposed. Hence no "hidden feature" here. Keep looking :-)

I’m talking about just lightly touching the steering and keep it there. Obviously, one needs to turn the system on by pressing those two buttons. I didn’t realize that all that’s needed when stem is on, just a constant light touch of the wheel is all that’s needed. It’s totally safe. Obviously, you need to be aware of surroundings and be ready to intervene. No need to totally grab the wheel.

I know about everything you stated above.

You are all mistaken. Somewhere out there in the universe is a YOUTUBE video of an MB driving along with the "autopilot" engaged and he tricked the system to fake the 15 second rule by taping a beer can on to the steering wheel. I tried to find it and failed but I did see it years ago.

Yes! I do remember that trick. That trick was performed with the 221 S Class.

Do "negative" hidden features count ?
I found out that the knob on driver's door for opening the trunk remotely is marked with bi-directional arrow giving the impression that it does both open and close the trunk.
Furthermore, this knob travels up and down and back and forth when pushed, rising the expectations that it can do a lot.
In reality it ONLY opens the trunk and can't close it.

It can and it should close the trunk. Check your manual. If it does not work, it is malfunctioning and get your dealer to correct it.

Closing the trunk is working (at least on my car), but you should pull a little bit longer.
Opening the trunk is instant, closing takes some more patience

Yes indeed it does work when the car is powered on. Interestingly when the power is off only the open works, which I reported.
