I think it is referring to the tow hook used to tow the car. They typically notify you via the Mercedes App and via mail if you have a recall. I haven't received a message yet.

The towing eye is located in the boot floor. When your car needs to be towed, you remove the towing eye and then screw it into either the front or rear position.
Looks like the receiving end may not have enough thread depth for the towing eye to fully screw in.

The tow hood is standard on all Mercedes cars. Never know if you need to help someone else.
