I asked the Dealer prior to buying the car that had 4K miles on it. They said YES.

This day I drove to Round Rock, Texas to their EV America and it charged me for the charge even though I have Mercedes Me and also EV America aps.

So I'm now thinking NO. Not a big deal since I was paying for Tesla Superchargers prior to the EQS. Still a bit in the 'wondering stage' about this.

The free charging is connected to the VIN. It doesnt matter who owns the vehicle. Best guess.

OK. I'll give it one more try in the next couple of days.

My Mercedes EQV has the vin and so does my EV America has the vin.

I'm not sure what I am doing wrong then. Plug in, tap the IPhone against the charging machine, and it starts charging plus charging my Visa card also. I agree it might be my way of charging at a EV America site. Next time.......no tapping my IPhone against the charging machine,

I will also consult the agent a Park Place Motors in Ft Worth about what is happening, You knows, the one who told me the free charging is transferable. Also the one who told me the used Tesla S Performance model with 1200 miles on it had free charging, It did not but then again, they are not Tesla dealers so I let it go.

By the way, that 2020 S Performance I traded for a '19 S560 got me the within the same price I paid for it originally and the 2020 I bought in Nov of 2021 got me the exact same price I paid for that new car. Tesla S Models seem, at this time, to hold their value,

New owner here. I was charged during my first charging EA session. Turns out my Mercedes Me hadn't been fully activated even with the app saying everything was good. My dealer helped and did what seems to be a reset. Hopefully your dealer can do the same.

That could be the problem. My Mercedes Me has my vin plus I got a Electrify America ap that has my vin/car etc.

In a couple of days I'll try again. I got the EA ap so I could have what they call the 'pass' (4 bucks a month) that is required at my EA in the Sams Club in Ft Worth.

Started charging the EQS this morning at a EV America in Eastland, Tx and this time did not charge my credit card. Nothing changed since yesterday and today. It just decided to start charging without charging my credit card.

So, no problem with free charging as of this morning.

I was told by the dealer that it is not transferable but I guess that is wrong if it is working for you!

Have had several EA charging sessions which were initially charged and then credited back to my card. Perhaps this is the setup as I can monitor it on my MercedesMe Connect app. Mine is also a CPO so I suspect it is tied to the VIN irrespective of what the dealer rep tells us.

Thanks everyone for sharing. After my message a few days ago on this forum, I decided to go back again and try my luck with the EA station in Tysons. Voila, no issues. DIdn't ask for a CC, recognized the car, and got me up to 80% (the limit I set) from 55% in about 24 mins at 102 KWH. (I went again the next day and it worked - at 32KWH).

I was told by my Mercedes dealer that EA was having a problem with Mercedes EQS connecting. I was also told this by a EA employee who I called at the EA chargers in Sweetwater, Texas about three weeks ago.

Today at a EA in Eastland, Texas I has no problem. No RFID was required to connect nor any Visa card.

After a very sorry event after New Years in Sweetwater, where all four chargers were down and I had to call EA at the number on the charging device in order to get one of the four to work, I now carry my leftover Tesla protable charger in the car whereever I go .....so at least I can find a hotel with a Tesla destination charger to get charged back up. No cross country trips for this young man ever.

Suggestion that will help others.......if you find any of EA chargers not working, call the number on the charging device to let them know so it will get fixed. If nobody reports it, then it isn't going to get fixed until a maint person finds it broken. OH! and big thumbs down on the sorry person who chunked a charging cable on the ground and left it there. Probably pissed of 'cause the charger didn't work, but gosh darn idiot, do better.

Answers like this are not very helpful. Better not to answer than to just say "read the manual" or "ask the dealer"

Can I ask addio06 and Newbyloub, who do you think would have the right answer if it's not the dealer. I'm sure there are not many used EQS owners here to answer the OP's question.

There have been numerous posts here by numerous persons on numerous topics that have reported a dealer could not assist someone.

I don’t have any phone numbers but you can try phoning a Mercedes #. If your dealership cannot help you, try phoning another dealership or Mercedes.

I understand your frustration.

@Newbyloub, I think your a little mistaking. I'm not at all frustrated about this. I'm still waiting for my EQS to be built. I do know that Tesla would not allow the free charging to transfer unless you have a older model like mine and sell it to a private party.

Generally, these free charging plans are non-transferable according to J.D Power

Free charging plans are not transferable, they are associated with your ChargePoint account authenticated by your VIN.

When I tried to setup my Grecale with ChargePoint it kept failing with a "your account is already associated with Mercedes me", so I had to delete it and create a new one... and then I bought 10,000 shares of their stock too.

From above, inconsistant is by far the best way to descrive EA chargers. I have had our EQS for three years, so well beyond the two year agreement. I usually charge a home so only use EA or others when traveling. We are currently spending a week on the coast of Ga. and have been to a local EA station three times. Once when we arrived, again while we were shopping and then today, charging up for trip home tomorrow. The first and third time the charger recognized the car and started charging while the second wanted my CC (I forgot to use the Mercedes Me token). Better yet the first and third charging showed a cost of $0.00 while the second came to about $24.
Gotta love it. Why would I ever pay Elon, when I can get three charges for $24....HA
