Clipper creek charger clicking

Anybody else have this issue with their Clipper Creek charger (or any other brand)? During a charging pause (which I set to allow the car to not charge during the most expensive time of the day, for example 4 pm-9 pm), if the car is plugged in, the charger will cycle on and off (with an accompanying very loud click every 10-15 seconds) until after the pause period (i.e. the clicks will stop at 9:01)

We have a Tesla that we charge with the same EVSE and it does not do this during its scheduled pauses.

I’ve reached out to Clipper Creek and they say it is the way Mercedes has written the code for the pause.

Is there a workaround or a fix?

Thanks!

Sounds like a problem with your charger. My ChargePoint Home Flex engages with the car, and then the car pauses charging. Nothing happens until the car starts to charge at the end of the pause. All the home charger does is provide electricity to the car, the charger is on board your EQS for AC (Level 1 and 2) charging. Also, my ChargePoint is capable of programming the pauses itself. If Clipper Creek does that, you might try and program the pauses through the wall box, rather than the EQS.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, that is what I understood also -- from what I understand, the Clipper Creek charger is just a "slave" and draws power from the EQS when the EQS demands it. Unlike Chargepoint or Juicebox, I cannot program pauses to the Clipper Creek Wall Charger. Unfortunately, the EQS is "demanding" the charge every 10-15 seconds during a pause and then realizes it doesn't really want it and then the wall charger turns on and off constantly.

I chose Clipper Creek as a recommendation from our friends (Clipper Creek is one of the most common commercial venue (i.e. parking garages and hotel) chargers) and it has been rock solid with our Tesla.
