Automatic Car washes
Reading the Manual on car washes,it gives a whole process of deactivating everything including cameras heating cooling etc.It seems like a overkill? Can anyone comment .please.
Turn off the wipers. Place in neutral. The sensor noise is crazy but it’s only a couple of minutes. If the noise bothers you you can turn it off.
I took my wife’s GLE through an automated car wash for the first time a few weeks ago. It had a car wash mode which you could activate. I’m guessing all new Mercedes have that.
No, there is no wash mode on GLB's in US... Make sure to deactivate the auto parking break after switching to neutral. In the auto car wash, the guy was new and didn't do it. So the GLC in front of me and my GLB were jumping and not moving on the rail each time the cylinder came to push the tire...

Nor the EQS. In fact you cant manually control the EQS height at all, which quite frankly is beyond dumb since the car is very low and very long which compromises break over angle. Ive had scrapping even at low speed over speed bumps! There is a way to raise it to put it on a wrecker but its a hidden multi point process.
Agree. Parked my wife's GLE under a Pecan tree in Southlake while visiting our Son, and it had little droplets of sap all over it, so took it to a car wash. The car wash mode was fantastic. But, not a problem for me as my EQS will never see one! Yes....I'm one of those weirdos.

You got me curious since the topic of automatic washes were brought up, curious what you think of recycled water, is it like spraying salt water from other vehicles during the winter, for those who do touchless wash?
I too hand wash but sometimes I get lazy and wondered if it is better to keep the salt on the vehicle or go through a touchless with the risk of recycled water spraying salt water into places that normal driving will never reach. I thought about shell touchless.

This guy's EQS580 sedan has car wash mode. My 2022 EQS AMG does not.

That is a good question, maybe they are trying to simplify things... uh, for example MBUX 1.0 (NTG 6.0) you can customize the instrument cluster more than MBUX 2.0 (NTG 7.0) in the EQS for example. Can't say it is a good change though.
Or someone sued Mercedes and won because this feature caused significant damage.
That said, it does temporarily disable the PARKTRONIC sensors as well (if I recalled correctly), but there are so many disclaimers and what it will do shown before you activate, so people can't blame Mercedes if their car doesn't beep plus those are safety aids anyways.
I just watched a German-language video highlighting how catastrophically the software development is being handled. It’s no wonder that Mercedes struggles so much with updates and development. Almost the entire development process is outsourced, which creates significant problems. The motto seems to be: "We build cars; the rest of the software is done by others"—others who may have never even driven the car in real-world conditions.
Again, its in German language.
