Perfectly normal to do. If you want tu save brakes simply use one pedal drive (max regen) or auto.

I hope not, because I do it every day when I encounter traffic, then switch back out of it when traffic clears.

The only direct consequence I can think of is that prolonged periods of not using your brakes -- especially in wet/humid/coastal environments -- could result in your rotors developing a layer of rust which isn't a great look.

Use your brakes vs. regen 2-3 times during your daily drive to keep the rotors shiny and use regen for the rest. Also note that if you hold either paddle in for a few seconds it will turn on Intelligent Recuperation which (according to MBZ) factors in 100+ variables to decide how much recuperation to engage. I like intelligent.... till I don't. My issue with it is inconsistency I dont't trust it enough in city driving because on occasion it brakes late and I have to jam the brakes. Its OK on highway driving. Most of the time I use "normal". I also use "max regen", but, I have to remember that contrary to "auto" I have to brake if necessary since there is no radar assistance! Maybe there are to many choices😁 Thats why I mostly use "normal" I always know what to expect and it mimics "ICE brakes' perfectly.

The rotors won't rust since the disks are constantly "wiped" by the brake pads very lightly.

Fwiw, I did this on my Tesla MS, and for the full time I owned it (2015-2022) I never had to replace the brake pads. I’m in PA where pads are part of the yearly inspection as well. I only wish the eqs max regen were a bit more aggressive!

I, too, tend to use Max region most of the time as I live in a hilly area which enables me to use 1 pedal driving and get better regen then when in Normal.

I've tried Intelligent but like others find it a bit inconsistent. Seems like it's still a work in progress.
