Door Closing

Anyone else having problems with the door staying open? Unless I get the door "exactly" at the right stop, the door will swing closed. For a $100K+ car, i would expect a little more precision. Will probably have it looked at when I take it in for the repetitive "flap open" warnings.

I had the door closing issue on my W213. MB replaced the hinges on L & R front doors. This is a Mercedes ongoing issue. My neighbor had the issue on his W222 and W223.

I have a 2019 e63s and asked the dealership about it... it sucks that ALL my other cars/trucks have a stop/holding point for the door so I dont get jacked up shins
anyway the dealership skoffed at my concern and says thats how they are and it is normal, no problems here, move along

Now I am told by the dealership that both passenger side hinges need to be replaced at my expense $800 plus paint and labor

I don't have this issue at all. It stays open in any position similar to the hinges on the Panamera.

Seems like a defect, although looking at the comments above it seems like getting Mercedes to fix the issue may or may not work.

Unclear what you mean by "all late MB cars..."

Definitely not true of my 2018 S560 or my 2022 EQS450+.

The detents are weak. True for my C400, E43, and both GLS 580' I had and the EQS. They almost seem to be self closing doors. Seems also true for most modern cars in general. We are just comparing it to the ol' times when it took a little muscle to close a door.

There are probably one or 2 door detent suppliers in the market. Most car manufacturers are using the same or similar hardware. Most people don't realize that different brands share a lot of "stuff". Conglomeration iof systems is only going to increase. Many suppliers have flexible manufacturing thus they can adapt to the particularities of a variety of car brands.

S580
I previously had a 2021 S-Class S580. I think my garage is fairly level and the detent issue was very noticeable to me where the door would try to close when it shouldn't. On my 2022 EQS450+ it is not an issue (for me). I think it is a quality control issue. On my S-Class the dealer was not willing to acknowledge or address the issue.
