Timely article. You'll have to translate this page in your browser, but it looks like MY 2024 cars are getting a heat pump: More range for EQS and EQE Sedan - JESMB

Well, says the same without translation. I actually just read the same page before coming to this thread. Indeed confirms what Tjdehya mentioned earlier.

Regarding heat pumps.... At 10 degrees Im still getting 325 miles range. Actually measured not caculated. That is around 10% loss from EPA estimate for the 580.
Heatpumps are not magical devices. Its all part of the whole system. A ten% loss at 10F tells me that is doing as good or better as heat pump equipped vehicles.

LMAO, you are a real try hard. You have a need to be right.
I am pretty sure that you are the one claiming that you were getting over 400 mile range in the summer. So if you are only getting 325 now then that’s a loss of 75m+… that’s quite a bit more than 10% lol

No, what is idiotic is the car getting terrible range in the winter because the dumb engineers built a vehicle without a heat pump! Not understanding that fact is idiotic!

2019 SL550/2023 EQS 580 SUV
I am not getting involved in the current argument but have seen a large drop in mileage on my 580 SUV due to the cold. October-December we had many days here in S. Texas with 70-80F days and I was getting 260 miles at 100% charge on a regular basis. The last 7 days currently with daily highs at 38-39F I am getting right at 200-205 miles at 100% charge driving the same route every day. I really see now how the temperature effects mileage.

Try the climate eco functions (note: it will get a little chilly). I can see why the SUV in particular could be more afected by the cold since it has a lot more cabin space. I would be surprised if you did so your range would be less than 20% off from the "rated range". 20% less is actually excellent for an EV. Some lose 40%!

Dealing with a malfunctioning interior heater can be a real pain, especially in colder weather. I remember when I had a similar issue with my car's heater. Turned out, it was just a faulty thermostat. As for Night storage heaters, they're a whole different ball game, but equally frustrating when they act up. It might be worth checking the thermostat or any fuses related to the heater.

How do other people find the heater? Is your air warm when it is cold outside?

Ensure your HVAC setting is not on Eco+ as I find that setting minimally heats or cools. Acts more like “vent” setting from the 80s. Eco seems to have the best result vs efficiency.
