Door handle broken in partially extended position
My drivers door handle had an intermittent issue with making loud popping noise as it extended and retracted. Would work fine for a couple weeks and then not all. Now unfortunately it is stuck in a half-open position. Thankfully the door can still be opened from the outside. Taking it into the shop next week.
Has anyone else experienced this? Would appreciate knowing what parts were involved so that I can make sure the dealer can order in advance to reduce shop time.
thanks in advance.

My handle did not stick, but made a loud sound as it pushed out as if it was catching on something. I did the same, using WD-40 spray. I used the small straw and pushed it into the internals of the door handle. It solved the problem!

Nice idea, but no dealer will order parts without first inspecting your vehicle. That does not prevent you from ordering them in advance from the Parts Dept, of course. But this would be a bad idea, because you'd pay for and own the parts whether or not they would fix your problem. At best, you'd have to pay restocking fee if they turned out not to work. Better idea is let them inspect it and order any parts they believe necessary, but you take your vehicle back until they have the parts on hand.

Just a stupid question: what if WD-40 made contact with the cables and electronics in that area? Will it lead to other problems?

Thanks for everyone's input. I went with the consensus recommendation of WD-40 and it appears to have resolved the issue as was suggested. Thanks all that replied.
