Access to what?

On my 450+ there is an access panel on the passenger side footwell just below the glove box. It is illustrated as a square on page 6 of the owners manual. Inside there is a wired dead end connection. Does anyone know what it's there for? Maybe for an option that I don't have? I'm looking for a place to connect a 12v outlet for a tire inflator. Our car came with run-flats and no 12v outlet.

As far as a tire inflator goes, why don’t you buy a battery powered wireless one from Home Depot? I bought one and I love it. It’s so easy to use.

This is under the glove box on my 580 SUV. Why MB doesn’t finish these on all units is a mystery. It is absurd to think that just because a vehicle originally comes from the factory with run flat tires that it will always have run flats mounted. I also don’t know why some new EQS’s come with run flats and some standard tires, some staggered and some not. Maybe there is a shortage and they use what is available at the time of manufacture.

I may be wrong, but a believe staggered is for SUV's with 3rd row seating.

Staggered wheels on the eqs SUV? The GLS 580 has staggered wheels the EQS does not, as far as I know. It wouldn't make sense. The last thing you want on an EV is very fat tires plus, it would probably intefere with the rear steering.

Should be a fuse box, according to page 192 of the Manual.

Thanks bishop64. I missed that in the manual. But in my car there is no fuse box, just a small wire bundle and a connector. Maybe something to do with the Hyperscreen that I don't have.

It does not seem that the fuse box is related to the Hyperscreen, but as a ''low voltage device that disconnects high voltage'' (eg in an emergency situation).
Take a look at this:- (https://rk.mb-qr.com/en/297.155/)
It should house a device to disconnect the car's high voltage system in an accident by rescue workers.

Really interesting. But since there is no fuse box the wire bundle is simply attached to the flap to keep it from bouncing around. I think I will see if anyone at my dealer knows anything.

We have a member on the SUV side that says he has staggered wheels on his EQS.

He's probably confused by the term. Ask him what the widths are for the front and the rear. Or..... I just wasn't aware of it since there is no web configurator yet. Not even the AMG has a staggered arrangement. It would be weird. On the other hand, it would look great!

The SUV does in fact offer staggered wheels but they’re not heavily staggered. The split is for 2 row vs 3 row vehicles. 2 row cars have a square 275 set up. 3 row cars have 275 front tires and 285 rear tires. I have no idea why. So yeah, only 10mm more, but technically it is staggered.

Cool!👍
Its probably imperceptible, maybe a load rating thing? On the GLS the rears are massive 305s and boy do the cost a penny! It does look badass😀
