Black spot in headlights
Has anyone else noted a dark spot projecting on the left side of the road (oncoming traffic) while using low beams. It disappears with high beams. The road is uniformly lit with the exception of this one area. The only thing I can think of is the lights are darkened in this area because it may line up with the site of view of an oncoming car and won’t blind the oncoming driver. When I first noticed it I thought my headlights were defective ( which they may be for all I know). Passengers in my car notice it as well so I know I’m not “seeing “ things.

I get the opposite, which I think is as it is meant to work, low-beams are always on but high-beams bring in the clever black rectangle over oncoming vehicles to not dazzle them

MBWorld Fanatic!
Blame it on regulations. The digital LED system is "castrated" for US service. Thus, that extraordinarily annoying shade on low beams. That shadow is supposed to be "dynamic", appearing only when there is a car approaching and following it as it passes, even with the high beams on! Then comes US regs, which are more than a decade behind, which do not allow the system to work as its designed (which works perfectly). So, we end up with ****ty low beam pattern. My GLS and E43 low beams were categorically better. It mystifies me why MB simply didnt program the beams to mimic those 2 patterns given that the whole idea is to be able to tailor the pattern pretty much at whim. An absolutely avoidable and terribly annoying shortcomming..... given its a software thing I don't see why MB simply doesnt adress it with a software fix.
