I don’t necessarily prescribe to that way of thinking. There’s a new version of software for a reason. Something was improved or something new was added or why else would they take the time and effort to come out with a new version. The wait till it’s broken approach just doesn’t work for me. That’s like Apple coming out with a software update to fix a potential problem and being told to wait till your phone got hacked before you apply the update. I would rather be proactive before a problem arises.

This was discussed in another thread for 2022 models which included a video of a new EQS start-up animation:

The YouTube video was created by an individual who works at a Mercedes dealership.

Okay - It being Christmas Day, and very cold outside to get to my heated garage, especially since I have to use a walker or my two canes, it now appears a new player has seated itself at the table, showing itself on my iPhone 14 home screen with the Mercedes three-pointed star.
His name is "Mercedes me connect." Its first page offers a six-block menu, the last one of which is labeled "More." When More is touched, it opens up a second page, containing in its top section the same six menu options shown on Page 1, with the "More" option blanked. In its bottom section, Page two shows a menu of 11 options. In the second row at its extreme left, is the option labeled "Over-the-Air-Vehicle Updates" with a symbol showing a down-pointed arrow descending from a cloud. Upon touching this icon, Page 3, labeled "Over-the-Air Vehicle Updates opens. The copy then reads, "No Updates - (recently updated from the vehicle)" with an image of the cloud and arrow, the image of my red EQS450+, and a balloon stating "You're up to date."
Now that creates a question or two in my mind...If my car has not been updated, why is "Mercedes me connect" telling me it is? Next question: Does this statement refer to software or not? Next question is, If it does not refer to software, to what does it refer?
All replies with specific information, not generalities and no accusations of laziness on anyone's part, will be given due scrutiny.

MBUX version updates do not appear on the Mercedes me connect list of updates, those are just over the air updates and the MBUX update needs a dealer visit.
One can read the current SW version from MBUX (no hidden or dealer menus needed for this) and the (presumably) latest version has been posted all over the forum, at this thread too. Why not sit in the car, read the SW release info and no need to interpret any ambiguous comments from foreigners (No need to say that I'm not native English speaking and an odd selection of words and their order often needs attention from the reader for correct interpretation. Sorry about that, too old to learn more).

I abreviated the software version .... version 250.x will be upgrade to version 329.x if you are in the USA. Other regions of the world may have different versions, but I bet they start with a 3. My last car was done on the 20th of this month.

I checked out my EQS450+ software this morning - I am not current. I have a dealer appointment for this coming Thursday for an upgrade.
I thought I posted this about 8:45 this morning from the car on my iPhone, but don't know why it's not showing here.
Strong thanks and deep apologies to all as appropriate; your patience and forbearance is gratefully acknowledged and appreciated.
Systems > Info > Systems > choice 2 = shows current installed software. In the third group of characters, it showed "E250...." Phoned the dealer, made my appointment without question or problem..

So are you saying what has been posted as RL_NTG_E316.505_22092AC3 is not the current version, ie should be E329.x?

I can say 329 was the version loaded to my car on the 20th. I would assume versions can vary based on geographic location, but for the USA, version 329 for a 580 should be the most recent. I think that those folks who still have version 2xx.x software should look into getting their cars updated.

I’m convinced.
Taking my year-old 450 to the dealership Thursday.
No reaction from the service writer when I booked my appointment.
Everyone’s concern, though, is how do we learn when a new update is available?

I hate to say it, but I think this forum is the best place to get that info. MB does not make the info readily available to its customers. As discussed in another thread, most owners won't know unless they have a problem. Since I have been sensitized, anytime I bring the car in for service or state inspection, I will ask my service advisor to check. I promise to report back if my software version is upgraded.

The weakness I see, though, is that under basically trouble-free driving, service wouldn’t seem to be required very often. Yes, some high-mileage drivers will have that opportunity.
For myself, I wonder if my best route wouldn’t be to phone my service writer every quarter or so and ask him what the latest SW update is?

Those who have access to service bulletins (my subscription expired) may find reference to issues fixed from a specific SW release onwards. Probably something on the bulletins konigstiger has posted. It still only proves a more recent release is available, does not say which one is the current release. Best if everyone checked from their new car or their car after service and reported here.
The MBUX main SW release, the one that can be read from the unit itself seems very generic. The exact SW on the EQS and the W223, in the US and in Europe. I don't know but I assume this applies to most other markets and likely to the EQE, perhaps even the W206 and the coming W214 with the same MBUX (be it hyperscreen or not). The car specific configuration makes them look different and cover menus that do no exist on another model. Amazing how different UIs they can handle with the same base SW.

I stopped by my dealer today and they said they didn’t have any software update noted for my car when they looked up by VIN. I told them of the possibility of version 329 being available. After speaking with shop foreman they agreed to take my car in and hook it up to diagnostics to see if there is a newer version available and then will install it. Taking it in Thursday. Will let the forum know the results.

That's the impression I got from my service agent. I’ll let you know what they find Thursday. Dealership has always treated me very well. Planning on taking the car to Florida for rest of winter right after I get back from a Mexico vacation after new years, so they were able to accommodate me this week.

At dealer currently. Hooked my car up and sure enough, there is a new software version available. Not sure if version number but I have 316.x now. Will report back after getting car back towards end of day.

It wasn’t; still E250xx
Tech back from lunch shortly; will try again.
Did not have any “issues” that allowed an update?

Just picked up my 23 EQS 580 sedan from service. Updated MBUX and also new map update to V13.0. The new software is RL_NTG7_E329.501_22411AC3. Not sure what it changes as I just got car but I know it’s the latest version available.

i left home about 9:20 to drive 70 miles to my dealer. I'm guessing they started on my 450+ update about 11:00-11:15. About an hour later, they told me it was done. I replied, "I don't think so, let me go check." Sure enough it was still the E250 version. I got the service mgr out to the car, showed him what it said, told him, "You didn't do what I asked you to do." "We did the MBUX upgrade" "Maybe so, and thanks, but you didn't do the software."
After about 20 minutes, during which I showed him posts from here on my phone, he said his senior tech would be back from lunch shortly, and they would try again.
I don't know what time they started, but at about 3:15, I was told it was done. Went to the car, it showed the E329 version. Success! He told me that the download was broken off by the sending source 4 times during the download. It certainly didn't take 3 hours. Drove 70 miles back home got here about 5. I didn't notice anything different on my screen or in driving home. Of course, the only app I used was Cruise Control/Distance - it was no different.
So, many thanks for the suggestions and help posted here. Much appreciated!

I would also be curious to know if they have added any of the software features documented in the online manual such as GPS based raising of the vehicle. On page 260 of the MBUSA website online manual (which may be different from the searchable manual loaded into your car) it documents this feature.
here is a screenshot of the PDF page 260:

Assistance Screen
With all the updates, I am wondering if the following was addressed. On the Assistance Home screen of my EQS 450, the lower right indication of % Max Power (circled in red in attachment below) does nothing while in the Classic Home it changes like a tachometer while applying the accelerator. If it does nothing, then why have it even on the screen; seems like feature upgrade but am wondering if the SW updates do anything to this feature.
