EQS 450v4 Sedan
Post 2023 EQS Software Version

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 450+ sedan, but can't find any information on the current (main) software version. It seems that there are dealer-only updates due to file size and wanted to be certain the car was up to date before taking delivery. Is there any reference online?

Forgive me if there's already a thread covering this, but the search function returns too many results. Perhaps there should be a sticky thread for this since it affects everyone.

This is several months old but I haven’t seen anything more current for a 450+.
RL-NTG7-E316.505-22092AC3
I believe the 22092 is year 22 day of year 92 which would be March/April. This is not verified.
Various subsystems have their own versions. I have not been able to determine the version installed or how to find the current version.
Hopefully someone has a link to a Mercedes site with this official information

Had my 450 in at the dealer two weeks ago, first time since delivery a year ago. Told me software was current, made no changes.

But what do you have in your car? If it is from a year ago, it cannot be the latest. Must be older than the one posted above (which is the same I have on my 223 from some time this summer).

Dealers are lazy and you have to show them you know there is an update.

How do you know my dealer is lazy/??????????????????

Not that it's any of your business, but I have known these folks for 10 year;they have my complete trust.

This kind of generalization is based on ignorance of the situation, and really gripes my guts.

Isn't there a section in the cars menu that tells you what version your car is on? A simple check would tell Newbyloub if his car has the latest version.

Dealers don't like doing MBUX updates unless it's required as part of a recall, because it takes like half the day to flash the update.
Some dealers are more flexible than others in this regard.

My car is healthy, doing just fine, and doesn’t miss a beat, but thanks.

As I have mentioned previously, I bought no systems options except the air filter, and use only cruise control/distance, very rarely navigation, and “Hey, Mercedes” to make phone calls of the factory installed standard options.
I don’t even turn on the radio!

Don’t doubt it; that doesn’t make it true of all situations.

The display will indicate the installed software versions. It does not indicate if newer versions are available.

The App does tell you though if you are up to date.

Your software is out of date if your car is a year old. I have 2 EQSs, manufactured in June 2022. Both were version 2.x and now my dealer has upgraded them to 3.x. One car had a problem and the upgrade was the fix. The other did not. The risk you take is that one day, your car will encounter a situation where a bug will cause a malfunction and may leave you stranded, or at a minimum, inconvenienced. Major version changes incorporate bug fixes the engineers have encountered plus significant improvements in the software. Both of my cars' central screens are more responsive and faster.

If you go to settings, scroll down to information, you will find what version of software you have. If you are on version 2.x, then you should have another conversion with your dealer and get it upgraded. It takes about 3 hours. Fortunately, my dealer gave me a loaner so that I did not have to wait. A good time to get the upgrade is when you have the car in for some other service.

You can't rely on over the air update notifications. To my knowledge, only map updates are over the air. Significant changes to the car systems have to be done at the dealer. See my post above.

Thank you for what appears to be a clearly stated and complete suggestion. (Not too many are!)

I will check this this morning before the family arrives for Christmas sausage-egg casserole brunch!

Merry 🎄👍🙏 Christmas ‼️

This means your car does not have the latest SW (we all know it here as you can see from later posts). Your dealer says it had current SW which is not true. Either they are lazy or ignorant or both. Why do you then get upset with me?

In any case, I'm just trying to convince you that you are entitled for a SW update at the workshop. Hopefully with the forum help you can convince your dealer about the update, if you want it.

Mine was manufactured in February, 2022 and I took possession in early May, 2022. So I bet I have the old version 2.x instead of 3.x.
I’m going to take it to the dealer when we get back to Des Moines after January 4.

My dealer is very accommodating and they always provide me with a loaner.

Thank you for this valuable information.

Mercedes cockpit management system is called NTG or New Telematics Generation.
NTG 5 was released in 2015 and reached EOL in 2018. NTG 5 was known as COMAND.
My '18 E300 started with NTG 5.0 and was updated to NTG 5.1 which was the final version of COMAND.
Starting with model year 2019 MB released NTG 6 as the first version of MBUX. As far as I know the current version is NTG 6.0.
Has anyone checked their software versions using Mercedes Engineering Mode?
It must be enabled by using either Vediamo or Monaco on 2019 or later cars.
For older cars instructions are here.

NTG 7 was introduced with the new S-Class. NTG 6 is basically EOL now too since there won't be any more significant updates, but services should last a while since it's on 4G.

Mine says RL_NTG7_E250.403_21394AC3

I don’t see anything that says 2.x or 3.x

So what does all this mean? Does it mean that I have the latest software?

Okay - It being Christmas Day, and very cold outside to get to my heated garage, especially since I have to use a walker or my two canes, it now appears a new player has seated itself at the table, showing itself on my iPhone 14 home screen with the Mercedes three-pointed star.

His name is "Mercedes me connect." Its first page offers a six-block menu, the last one of which is labeled "More." When More is touched, it opens up a second page, containing in its top section the same six menu options shown on Page 1, with the "More" option blanked. In its bottom section, Page two shows a menu of 11 options. In the second row at its extreme left, is the option labeled "Over-the-Air-Vehicle Updates" with a symbol showing a down-pointed arrow descending from a cloud. Upon touching this icon, Page 3, labeled "Over-the-Air Vehicle Updates opens. The copy then reads, "No Updates - (recently updated from the vehicle)" with an image of the cloud and arrow, the image of my red EQS450+, and a balloon stating "You're up to date."

Now that creates a question or two in my mind...If my car has not been updated, why is "Mercedes me connect" telling me it is? Next question: Does this statement refer to software or not? Next question is, If it does not refer to software, to what does it refer?

All replies with specific information, not generalities and no accusations of laziness on anyone's part, will be given due scrutiny.

I believe you are on version 2 (first number after E). And I am willing to bet that if you go to the app like Lou did, it will say you are up to date. I’ve seen other posts with version 2 saying it was up to date and when they pressed their service agent, they reluctantly in some cases updated the software. It’s a long upgrade and that may be part of the reason for the dealers hesitancy to update the system.
My car was delivered just over 2 weeks ago and my software version is:
RL_NTG7_E316.505_22092AC3. This is same as DaleW post #2. I specifically asked my salesman when I picked up the car if I had the latest software and was told yes. I have not seen any newer version in this forum, so hopefully he is correct and I have the latest version.

I am positive that my dealer will install the latest version when I show them your post of exactly what the latest version is.

I called my dealer years ago to update my e500 sw after reading this forum about an available update. The dealer told me they don't update unless there is an issue requiring it. So from that point if i ever wanted to get software updated, I read this forum and tell them I'm having one of the issues reported on the forum that have been resolved with an update. Avoids a long discussion with the service advisor.
