EQS 580
Air Conditioning Gone

I wanted to share my experience with a recent EQS 580 problem I had. My complaints to the Dealer were that the air conditioning was no longer functioning and that the main MBUX screen was rebooting every 30-60 minutes of drive time. I made a service appointment and dropped off the car. The first status report I got from the service advisor was that the diagnostic data showed that the car was in "Limp" mode, producing 40% less power than normal and that the main CPU was generating multiple faults. He hypothesized that the Limp mode caused the car to disable the A/C in order to conserve power. Possible but didn't sound right to me. After two days, and multiple software updates / patches from Germany, I got the car back and it appears to be fully functional. The multiple reboots however erased all my setting so I had to start the setup process over from square one. Annoying but I suppose it was necessary. This morning I finished the set up and found that I could not enable satellite view from the main Nav screen. There used to be a small icon that was touch sensitive. You could cycle between North, 2D, 3D and Satellite views. Satellite view is no longer a choice. I cannot find a way to enable it any longer. Without Satellite view, there is no traffic data either. My MercedesMe app shows my subscriptions for these services are current so I'm lost. Any ideas? I will call the Service people again Monday and see if they can get me a phone number to an MBUX person.

At least the A/C works. In Florida that's a big deal.

Never seen “Satellite” on my year-old ‘22 450+.

Didn’t know it could be there.

I was mistaken. Pulled out the manual. I need to spend some time with it tracking down the choice. Tesla's user interface was so much simpler to use. I miss it.

I tried to go to satellite view but I can’t seem to find it. I think someone on another thread said that satellite view is not available with Augmented Reality navigation. Is that correct?

I found the satellite view selection menu a couple of levels down in the Nav screen. It works fine. Also in Augmented Reality. The MB software is just too complicated.

I tried everything and I cannot find the satellite view. Is the satellite view suppose to show buildings and such? All I get is 2D and 3D.

The satellite view is only at a certain magnification. Zoom out and try again.

You have to go to the "Zero" page of the Navigation screen and get into the Settings menu. That's where I found the selection. I'm pretty certain you have to be subscribed to MB's additional features to get the Satellite view.

I finally found it. I clicked on the EQ icon on upper left of screen and then clicked on settings. One of the options is satellite view.
Btw, what do you mean by “zero” page?

I tried zooming out and in and I still couldn’t get the satellite view. See above how I found it. Thanks for trying to help.

I had trouble finding it as well until this post. For the life of me I couldn’t find the navigation settings, not thinking it was imbedded in the EQ icon.

My 580 is back in the shop for the same problem I reported when I started this thread: Recurring MBUX crashes and no air conditioning. The software patches that were installed were not effective telling me MB did not understand the root cause of the problem. Or they did understand the root cause and chose to try to mitigate the symptoms because the cause was too expensive for the to fix under warranty. This car is a 2022 and I granted MB some slack because it is the first year of production. I'm not going to be as friendly this time when I pick it up. I will need answers. If we have another incident like this, I will take the only reasonable action - take a haircut and trade it for a Model S. I owned two for a total of seven years and never had to take either for service.

Update. One week later, the car is still in the shop. MB in Germany is providing the service shop with daily software patches. The list of faults from the system monitor is going up not down. What no one (except me) will say is that there is probably a serious hardware issue that is causing these problems. If that was not the case, all 580's would be having similar problems. I've reached the end of the line with this car. When it is finally fixed, I am selling it. I picked up a gorgeous Model S Plaid yesterday. Much different design objective. It gives you everything you need and nothing you don't. The 580 for me was a failed experiment. The software is too complex. I drove three hours with the Model S from Ft. Meyers yesterday and had the time of my life. No one really needs 1000 horsepower but it's nice to know it's there.

Any chance you could ask them to buy back the car under the lemon law? (Depending on your state of course)

I have done just that. I can't press it until they give up trying to fix it or I get it back from them and the problem recurs for the third time.

That is not correct. What state are you in? Most states it’s 30 days in the shop or 3 attempts. You start the lemon claim the moment it’s an official lemon and then the car will be a lemon if they fix it or not.
It will be quick if the dealer agrees to buy it back, it’s a long process if MB has to buy it back.
If the problem is fixed then it is unlikely the dealer will buy it back but MB will give you the option of buy back or compensate you for the time lost with the car.
Either way… you should start the process the moment its an official lemon.

The saga here continues. The car has been in the shop for three weeks now. It is still throwing faults that the ever increasing number of software patches from Germany are unable to stop. I am happily driving my new Tesla Model S Plaid and talking with Mercedes about a buy back. This has been a disappointing experience to say the least. I wanted to love the EQS. It is a gorgeous car but there are undoubtedly more like mine that suffer from issues that inevitably show up in the first year of production. Too bad.

EQS 450+ SUV
I am in a similar situation. I have an EQS 450+ SUV.

AC stopped cooling all of a sudden, no errors, it just wouldn't cool. I took it to the dealership, they said it was the AC expansion valve, got it replaced. The AC worked for a few hours and stopped cooling again.

I'm going to have to get it back to the shop, I'm so disappointed. In my case, it's a lease. Was it hard to get them to buy it back? This smells like a lemon to me, this will be the second repair attempt.

I had that happen last year. But it fixed itself the next time I started the car. Never recurred.

You've probably done this, but I'll tell my story anyway. Had a similar experience the other day, shortly after I got one of the infamous messages that my services in MercedesMe Connect had been updated. Turns out, my AC (which I have NEVER turned off) was turned off, and my fan program had been lowered to level 2 (I usually use level 4). After readjusting, all was working fine. OTAs and stuff are great, but sometimes my settings just seem to mysteriously change, so be sure you check all of them first.

Hi OP, can you please confirm if this issue was fixed after replacing the AC valve ?
