Removing Door Armrests?

Has anyone tried/know how to remove the armrests on the door cards (marked by the red arrow below)? Two of my armrests make an annoying squeaking noise when they are pushed so I am thinking of taking them off to apply felt tape.

Dealer warranty issue. You break it, it's yours.

wanted to see if the dealer was able to apply felt / if it fixed the issue. Have a new EQS and all armrests are creaking when opening/closing the doors, especially in hot weather.

creaking/plastic noises tend to be very common based on what I've seen. Had a brand new loaner EQS too which did the same thing when opening/closing the door. Unlike the current s class loaner I have for my other car. A bit disappointing.

My doors do not creak, and i have found the quality of the EQS to be exceptional. Sorry this is happening to you. I would suggest that the dealer can probably fix this, and would expect that.

I doubt there's anything they can do. Those pieces are probably part of the panel itself which is usually removed as one piece. Never done it on an EQS/E but usually there's a screw or two hidden near the armrest. Then you pop out clips around the bottom and sides. Finally you lift the whole panel up out of the window channel before pulling it out. You should then be able to disconnect the plugs for switches and speakers and remove it from vehicle. Like I said though, probably nothing that felt tape would be able to fix. Might even get into the window mechanism and mess something up. I'd just learn to live with it, would be much easier.

Is the noise coming from the handle or from somewhere else from the door panel when the door is pushed or pulled from the handle?

As mentioned on earlier posts, the handle cannot be removed before removing the complete door panel. Removing the panel is relatively straightforward but the workshop instructions do not talk about the handle as it is part of the door panel. Don't know if it is easy to remove the handle.

Unfortunately removing/installing the door panel is a likely source for some new noise.

noise on mine is coming from the plastic that surrounds the elbow/arm rest and from the window switch trim piece where you stick your hand to open the door. Looks like armrest is a separate part number from the trim pieces, so I'm assuming dealer can take apart somehow to apply felt or deaden the noise?

As others here, I have no sqeaks and rattles. I would not recommend attempting to remove the panels which almost invariably to broken or lost hardware which is a major hassle. I would let the dealer take care of it. Finally, make sure that the door pockets, storage and even the "under trunk" are free of loose items before doing anything.

Interior parts on modern cars are usually easy to take apart ONCE YOU SEE THEM DISASSEMBLED ONCE, but it takes the knowledge and tools to do it without breaking the hidden tabs that hold them together. I have been rebuilding older cars as a hobby for 45 years and even with a bit of experience would never attempt a door panel under warranty. One small mistake and you’ll be paying for a brand new part and as we all know MB’s are not cheap.

Stereo installers and window tint guys remove door panels all the time on new cars. It's pretty much the same procedure for all of them. Besides, how much could fake suede cost anyways. LOL

True, and half of them do a half arsed job too. They also have the tools and hopefully the appropriate clips and fasteners to rplace tge damaged ones. This is no riced honda civic.
I should know, having installed numerous after market custom audio systems.

My installer had mine off a few times doing speaker upgrades. He said they were VERY tight the first time he removed them, but the procedure was what he expected.

On my previous '21 GLE450 a different shop also did some speaker upgrades. He said he got a cell call and was holding the panel with one hand. It slipped a bit and broke a small clip between the 2 door lock rods. He paid, but it cost about $650 for Mercedes to fix.
@Crito is correct, and it might pay to have a quality shop help you as they would also have the proper tools.

All installers I dealt with did say Mercedes (the most recent the EQS) had very good build quality compared to the competition.

The armrest is obviously a separate part, I just assumed it is not available separately from the panel but you are right, it is available as a separate spare part.

Looks like the way the part is secured is not the best way to avoid creaks.
