Leasing deals

I lease almost exclusively, I have never had any issue with the DMV...the dealership handles everything.
The issue with a one pay lease, and why I don't do them, is if you total the car. I don't trust that getting money back from MBFS (or any lender) in the event of a total loss would be an easy procedure, so I prefer to make monthly payments. The savings in interest in a one pay vs monthly is usually very small and not worth the opportunity cost on the money vs paying monthly. If you hate making payments, just put the money in an account and have the payments auto-pay out of that account. Then at least you have the money.
The issue with getting a refund for lease use also exists if you were to die. If you are the only person on the lease and you die, the lease is just over. Your family just takes the car back to MB and turns it in. Same issue exists with getting the unused lease payment back from MBFS in that situation. In my situation if I were to die, my wife would just take my S560 over to MB and say "here you go". For that same reason I make sure that her car has her name on it so she wouldn't lose her own car if something were to happen to me...
So, if you lease I would pay monthly. I think leasing the EQS makes a lot of sense because of the unknown ultimate resale value.

Thanks very much for your pleasant and considered AND RELEVANT reply.. If I used the term "average American," I apologize, as, in my opinion, there's no such animal...definitely not amongst Mercedes buyers.
My sole interest in looking at what some have termed here "as one-pay leases or single pay leases", my goal was to minimize the amount of money I pay out up front to have the use of an EQS450V4. I'm informed that I can most likely get one for two years at 5,000 miles a year, maybe less, through a TN dealer. It's solely in the interest of paying out the least amount of money up front.
I'm sure there is much about this of which i'm ignorant - my apologies for that,as well.

Just one quick correction, at least on MBFS leases, multiple security deposits do NOT earn any interest but do significantly reduce the money factor.

Good to know, thanks. I also recently learned they have an Early Termination Fee which is 4% of your payoff amount. I was looking at leasing as a way to get the $7500 credit and then immediately purchasing. The fee puts a damper on that idea.

But they inflate the residuals to lower the payment as a marketing decision. In any event, if the residual is low you can always trade or sell the car and pocket the difference, so there's not really any downside...think of it as there being a guaranteed value floor...

Leased mine as well. The deal is actually what brought me to the brand. I ended up going the OnePay route to get a lower interest rate/money factor. My effective lease payment would have been about $480/month. No money down as always. Deals can be had between stacking incentives and old fashioned negotiating. I got a tad over $31K off MSRP.
MSRP: $114580
Selling Price: $95970
Term/mileage: 24mo, 7500mi/yr
Incentives: $7500 lease cash, $3500 Preferred Employer Program, $1500 EQ Conquest
Residual: 67%
MF: 0.00184 (buy-rate, but 0.00104 after OnePay)
Markups: Acqusition Fee up to $1095 (from $795)
Drive off: $14448 (OnePay)
The funny part is I normally don't do 7,500mi/year leases. But the over-mileage penalties going from 7,500 to 10K were actually cheaper than a outright 10K lease.

I feel bad for the problem you experienced but if it gets taken care off, who cares. Another member on the forum bought 911 GT3 and the PDK blew up 20-30 miles in (if memory serves).
No bad feelings on his end; Porsche took take of him and there is an understanding that tech can fail. That happens with any brand, especially as the price goes up.
The cars that are usually more reliable are the ones with the oldest and the least tech, like it or not...
But if Mercedes doesn't take care of you, please share with the forum. There are many here willing to assist and you also have consumer protections...

You got a deal like this then whine about a technical issue that Mercedes is addressing?

Not sure how a good deal on the car means that one shouldn't be frustrated with a significant failure and replacement requiring months at the dealer...

$11500 for two years of lease payments
$900 in license and registration
$800 in sales taxes
$1095 MBFS Acquisition Fee
$120 in dealer fees
Thanks for the kind words. The deal is what consoles me when I look at my auto insurance bill and tire bill
I think I saw better deals on LeaseHackr, but AFAIK they were ex-loaners, mine was new with 18 miles on the clock and arrived from the port the week prior. That said, still doenst beat the BMW i3 deals from a few years ago. I currently lease a fully loaded one for $99/month and a friend leased a stripper for $46/month.

So, it sounds like lease deals are not as aggressive as they were in the Spring. Maybe August will start getting better or are those deals gone?
