Angry Charging Door Won't Open

Has anyone else had this issue and how was it fixed? I push soft. I push firmly. Yes I unlock the car when I do this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Make sure the car is unlocked. You probably already knew that.

Is there not a way on the main screen to initiate it opening? Might be worth a try….

You can try “Hey Mercedes open socket flap” to open it

You probably fixed your problem by using the screen inside the car. But I find on most gas vehicles I've owned, inside the right rear quarter area you'd find a lanyard to pull and open the flap.

On my EQS there is a small cloth covered panel you can remove and inside that panel covered area, is a lanyard with a loop to pull. I pulled it but the flap did NOT open.

I've a service appt tomorrow and I'll ask them just what purpose that lanyard plays in life.

The owners manual online sucks like all Mercedes owners manuals. Everything discussed inside them starts with a list of 'do not do this and do not do that' that go on for ages. Covering their butts obviously.

Agreed. The owner's manual is painful to read - so much of it is warnings/caveats. Someone needs to come up with a 'de-Karened' version of the manual :-)

You can try the Mercedes Guide App.
All the warnings are in collapsed form and only expand when you tap the arrow.
It also has video and animations which are quite informative.

I might have been wrong about that lanyard. I had a service inspection done and asked the advisor just what that lanyard was for. Unforturnally they did not have the 'parts for the service, wiper blades, filters for the cabin etc so it took till today to retrieve the car and I forgot to ask him about the lanyard. His firs guess was that it was for a hatch release but was not sure. I guess i"ll have to read the manual and look for 'hatch release'.

By the way, after 18,883 miles the rear tires are bald or close to bald. Fronts look like new. I'm probably the second oldest person on this forum so I do not drive 'crazy like' imho.

What brand tire are you considering for replacement?

Curious as to what tires you have on the car now?

26540-R21 GOODYEAR. I'm going to put the same brand on for a replacement. Why? Because the fronts are very. very good shape and I'm too cheap to change out things that are still useable. I'll probably have sold/traded the car by the time the rears get bad again.

Had two Tesla S Models and this one Mercedes EQS and I travel a lot which EV's can't do in what I'd call a reasonable amount of time. Others may differ. They're wrong.

I've been thinking about the rear tire wear. The car I have is a EQS 450, so it's rear wheel drive. I wonder if I had bought the awd one, whether or not the tire wear would have been better on the rear, seeing as the front tires would have been driving the car fwd also. Any thoughts on this? The Teslas were awd and I drove them the same amt of miles and I had no 'just rear tire wear/bald problem.

May 2 was the one year anniversary when I took possession of my EQS580. I have about 11,000 miles on it. The Bridgestone Turanzas all season tires still look almost like new.

I’ve had my EQS 580 SUV since last October now with 5,500 miles. The front tires are down to 7/32” and the rear tires down to 6/32” so I am seeing more wear at the rear so far.

I have a 23 EQS sedan with 3232 miles on it. I don’t have a guage but both front and rear tires show no signs of wear. I have Goodyear Eagle F1 assymetric’s 265/40R21 and drive the car in SE Florida.

Well it must be me or I should have bought a EQS 580 4matic. I've owned CL550'S, SL550'S, S560, Jag XJL, XK Jags, GLS 450 and others and never had a problem getting at least 40K miles out of a set of tires. Tire Discount in Ft Worth said they could not get me any of my Goodyear tires. Gonna think about if I really want to keep this car or not. Drives really good, quiet, fits my body but no 'mo. Put a 4 liter engie in it and a 21 gal gas tank and I'd like it better.
