Please help: Is this a cosmetic issue or should I go to the dealer?

My week old car has this slightly noticeable leather cracking on passenger side. This is nappa leather. I tried applying leather conditioner but no improvement.

is this cosmetic or something that I should take seriously and get the dealer to change the seat?

If it were my brand new car, I would immediately go to the dealer.

dealer says leather can have stretch marks because the cow it came from could have had them now dealing with dealer is a whole different pain. The problem is how to differentiate if this crease is a real issue to spend inordinate time with dealer or this is not that big of an issue. And I don’t know which way to go.

I can't discount what the dealer says entirely. But the picture, as best I can see it, looks like cracks. If that's the case, I don't think you should be expected to tolerate cracks in the seat of a car that's one week old.

I also find it interesting that many of the lines seem to be connecting the holes. I wonder how a cow with stretch marks could have planned that

I'd go to the dealer ASAP.

I had a stitch problem on my console; they replaced the entire console.

Is there cracking between the holes? Can you take a picture of the other seat same area?

Yes,
Dealing with a dealer is a real pain. Mercedes warranty issues used to be handled in a responsible way but that has changed in the last few years. You're lucky if you can find a Mercedes dealer who will treat you appropriately like the customer who paid a premium for a luxury vehicle.

They are not cracks, its rippling of the leader due to bad stitching. I would have that cushion replaced. Your dealer should have no issue with that. Its a defect that I wouldn't accept in any car, not to mention a very expensive "luxury" one.

You know, that's one of the main reasons I bought an expensive EV. I was really hoping I wouldn't have to set foot in the stealership for two years. But thanks to build quality issues I'm going back after just two weeks. Ugh!

On the bright side, I'm sure it'll be much better than the Hyundai dealer I had to deal with for service on my Genesis. That was like going to the DMV. Take a number and wait two hours for an oil change, which will be done wrong and leak all over the garage floor requiring another two hour visit. No, thanks!
